Blocking ads is by all means legal. However, a host such as ProBoards bans users if they have an adblocker. If ProBoards is banning users for blocking something that is legal, isn't that against the law?
I understand ProBoards is a free provider, and as such they need rules, but a companies rules do not overrule the laws.
Our host allows users to host legal adult sites however we don't allow our users to post adult content on this site. We are not breaking the law by not allowing legal adult images. It is our site so we can make whatever rules we want aslong as they comply with what our host allows and what the law states.
It is there site so they can block people from accessing it form whatever reasons they wish. They can block users from a certain country, all users who found them via a certain site or they can ban you just for the fun of it. It is their site and there servers.
Basically only because something is legal, doesn't mean a site has to allow it.
Do you mean forum owners removing the ads with a mod from the forums template, or members of forums blocking ads?
I think it's kind of odd banning regular members for using ad-blocking software, but if it is the forums owner who is using a free host and blocks the free hosts ads. I can understand why it can be a problem since the host is losing revenue.
If everyone started blocking adverts on their hosted forums then they would be loosing revenue they need to actually maintain the service. So in a way, users are actually potentially killing the service they depend on :S
