I just installed XP pro on my laptop, and it origanlly came with XP home. The sound works fine, but it wont detect it, thus not giving sound now.

How do I fix this?

You probably need to download the driver for it.

mind telling us what sound card you have?

You can go to device manager and find out there.

I can't. I get a error message.

I am using a 2005 Toshiba Satellite.

If you can't do that something tells me you installed it incorrectly. Either that or you used a "cracked" xp.

No I didnt use a cracked windows. I am all legal 😉

I needed to update my driver.

Maybe Windows Update installed the wrong driver. I had a problem in the past where Windows Update installed the wrong driver and my card reader or sound card did not work.

You can try contacting Toshiba, or go to their website for your laptop model and download the driver from there.
