Have you ever had a Spam attack at your forum?

TNG had a couple when we were running phpBB2.

We havent really had any spam. There has been members who have spammed abit but thats all really...

Just today, 3 bots joined. I deleted them though. Ever notice how they never choose the default skin?

Bots usually always pick the top thing in the pulldown boxes. I noticed when we had a few on freeforums they could always pick the first language which was african.

A forum I go to has had quite a few spambot problems recently and they seem to be increasing. Its no more than a minor annoyance but >.>

On the new Wild World Crossing, no.

On the Wild World Crossing hosted by FreeForums.org, yes, very much so. To this day, I still get spambots on there.

Like Fowler noticed, they always pick the top. I normaly don't delete them, but sometimes I do. (on my FF forum)
They somehow manage to get around the redirect script I used. And they even have the nerve to use FAKE e-mail addresses. Now I get a e-mail a day saying that the registration e-mail could not be sent.

Unfortunately it probably won't be long until the default phpBB3 CAPCHA is broken which will be a pain. I get emails returned daily about users either signing up with fake emails or having pm conversations with pm notification enabled anyway... And they are human -roll-

None are able to get through all the Spam modifications I have installed since I restarted the forum in June - and even before then we never really got any either. We got lucky I gues..

I haven't since it started, I tried to make it more difficult to register so I could try and prevent that.
