Spam Problem

Hello, dunno if this is allowed to be posted but.

On my MyBB forum i keep getting spammed, by spam users.

What I have on my forum

• Send Email Registrations
• reCAPTCHA
• Registration Security Question

& Yet there still by passing this.
Is there anything else I should be doing?

Set up a spam database modification. A mod that connects via API to the database at stopforumspam.

Doesn't it sometimes block people that don't spam?
Sometimes when I sign up to a forum it says I'm a spammer.

I have it set to check emails only when users try to register. If you set it to check their IP and username, they may get blocked, even though they are legitimate. Their IP could be used by a proxy and the username could be used by hundreds of other people. So just keep the email check on.

Disable reCaptcha and keep the Registration Security Question on. Make sure you aren't using any questions which can be Googled. For example, 'What's 1 +5', that can be Googled, so it's easy for bots to find. Also, make sure to choose a question a normal member would know, but a spam user would not, if they are a real human, just registering to post spam.

Works wonders for me.

A question like "What is the name of this forum?" would work good because that is not a question that could be googled.
