Spambot Joined Minutes after Phpbb install!

So I go and install phpbb, For a forum im going to remake, (last time i did it it never went public) and A spambot registers within Literally 5 minutes. -_-

If it is installed on a domain that is known to spammers (in other words in their master list of forums to target) then you will get spammers at least attempt to register. Quite often on default forum settings, they will succeed in signing up. Setting up some questions/answers will massively reduce the spam issues you will probably face aslong as the questions are unique and not simple like 2+2=?

I know, thanks for mentioning. 🙂 Im just amazed how they sign up withing minutes of me installing the software. :/
 
When I converted to MyBB recently, my forum was hit by like 30 or 40 spam bots in the 1st day. I had to install some plug-ins to keep them out. One was a security question, one checks to see if emails are listed in the stopforumspam database, one sends up an error message if all the feilds on the registration page were filled in in less than 10 seconds (because only a bot could move that fast).
 
If that was the case. I would 500 their ass with htaccess until you all your defenses in place
 
Yeah, I use auto Installer, then hand correct the errors. 😛

Obviously making a backup first. :lol:
