Why do people spam?

Im not talking short messages like 'cool' with no meaning, i mean ones like the recent incident here. I dont see why people do it...

They do it out of humor, jealousy, anger, and because they are butthurt at something that happened on the site.

hmm, i still think its just a waste of their time knowing they would get banned.

Well going into it they know that and it still seems worthwhile to them. It can last a long time if no staff is around and can really cause problems with guests who view the site. I personally think it can be effective but only if you observe the site some and pick a time when you know the staff is going to be away for awhile.

People spam because of all the reasons stated above, and they feel they'll accomplish something by messing with others. They're truly sad.

Yes, but if no staff are on for a while and bots pick up the threads (like google) and then a guest searches forum promotion then they will see something like the thread names and be put off.

Bob, if you look at this forum at any onetime, a staff member is usually on. Sometimes you can't help it.

At least 1 member of staff is on pretty much 24/7 on this forum. Spam would last no longer than 15-30 minutes on this forum. I myself refresh periodically throughout the day, even if I don't post.

That's true. Thankfully though, most people do know to give up when they realize that administrators/staff aren't putting up with the crap they're pulling off, and they'll eventually get tired of registering multiple accounts only to have them banned yet again.

I'd disagree. In the evening (not giving a specific time for spammers), GMT+10 (from memory) for about an hour, no staff members are on.
