I spent around 250$ for hosting, domains and themes but i haven't achieved big or a good mark. Do you think i am stupid that i learnt nothing. But keep worrying that i spent 250$ for webmaster stuffs?

Was i only money minded?

Its never about how much you spend. You could spend hundreds and achieve nothing but someone else could not spend a penny and get a successful forum.

You gained some experience I suppose. Don't give up on your current project especially since you invested so much money into it. It takes time and effort for forums to grow.

Great inspiring quotes my friend. I know webmasters like you can guide me in right path.

Money alone will not make a site successful. So never spend more than you absolutely have to.
That means design themes yourself if you can or look for sites like FP where you can get resources made without spending money. Don't bother buying multiple TLDs for your site since most times one will suffice. When it comes to hosting, don't start with the largest and most expensive pack if you don't need it since you'll just end up wasting money.

Because in all honesty, unless you're spending multiple thousands of dollars for advertising and content production you aren't going to see much results. (Though take care because even if you did spend a few thousand dollars that does not mean you site will be successful either. Some projects absorb all kinds of money and never go anywhere.)

And when it comes to sites, keep your expectations realistic. People won't flock to a site right away. It takes time, very often months to years, before a site builds itself up.
And during that time you have to be constantly making new posts/topics and using whatever advertising methods you can. I mean people won't join a site if it looks dead because there is no content or no fresh content.

Though even after you've built up a memberbase, you still can't relax that much. You have to keep posting and advertising.

Investing is not about getting, Many billionaires have lost their money so always think about where you went wrong and next time don't repeat those mistakes this way you will keep improving yourself till you figure out the right way of doing it.
Business always favors those who do things in right way you will keep losing till you learn how it's is done actually.
And after that you will taste success.

First goal is to offset your costs, continue to build on your foundation and you will make it. Take one step at a time and keep moving forward.

Believe me, if I worried about how much I spent to get where I am I would go crazy, for me I am always looking ahead and striving to keep moving forward, no matter how steep the climb.

I would like to give you my experience as an entrepreneur for over 7 years,

my first gig I was selling iPhones on ebay I spent $1000 and matter fact I came across a supplier one day who was in fact a scammer, promised better prices though never delivered, though they seemed legit they submitted bank account details all credentials appeared good.

because I got scammed alot of my customers ended up getting angry and nothing was delivered to them, this in turn caused a huge frustration on everyones part.

so instead of whinging about it I took $50 I had bought iPhone accessories sold them all for a neat profit and made my money back. to cut a long story short I made my $1000 back, I reported the scammer but never got my $1000 back, but overall I did manage to get the stock through and make my initial investment back of $1000 with an extra $2355 profit.

the moral is sometimes you will come across these situations, just be ready to take continuous action and persevere and you will see results, I'm sure one day you'll be sitting back in a recliner chair thinking to yourself "god that guy on the internet was right after all!!"

Very inspiring experience, thanks for the thought 🙂

It takes time. It is like learning to ride a bike. You jump the bike and fall off. You jump it again and you fall off again. You jump it once more and you fall off again. And the story goes on.... but eventually you make it!

Education is not cheap. And, that's especially true of life experiences which have the potential to teach us more than classroom learning. So if you learned something from the experience (success or failure) then it was worthwhile and going forward, you'll know what to do next time.

You have invested that $250 into experience so it is not a loss afterall. Now that you have learned how things don't work you can try it other way.

You can always recover some of your investment later, reuse the theme, sell the domain, etc.

My biggest loss was a $3k investment so far (not a sketchy investment program but my own business plan) and I had to take a loss, I have learn a lot from it and recovered my investments and not only.

I would suggest you to research more options before you begin working on something and learn new things if you want to cut the costs (learn how to design and code for example).

Yes it was a great experience in loosing something to gain something..

Your spent 250 on hosting, domains and themes. Ok with that being said. What was your goal with this project? Was it to get big and make the money back and then some profit? Think of what your main goal was and how much time you gave yourself to attain that goal. Was this your first time you tried something like this? If not I would suggest starting out small and setting smaller goals, attain them and then move on to bigger tasks and spending bigger amounts of money.

I started a forum, used free software + mods. Hosting is 8 a month. domain is 10 a year. Overall cost for a years worth = $106. I could even do it cheaper if I paid it all up front instead of paying monthly. Yet with that amount and the time span of a year that forum has time to grow, gain search engine ranking, and the time to fine tune everything. If I meet my goals within that year I will be more than happy. Even if I don't see a profit or even my money back.

Do you still have hosting/domain time left. As in it hasn't expired? If not you still have time to try new things and make it work.

Take it all as a lesson learned...and if anything you spent your money on a good lesson in life.

Where is your URL? Let's have a look at it and see if/how much of a waste of money it was...
