I went through my spice cabinet and found that I had 3 containers of cinnamon. 2 were unopened, and of those 2, 1 was expired. I threw out a ton of spices today.

I'm looking for some good ideas for organizing my spices so I can see them without too much effort. I don't want to keep buying things I already have.

How do you currently have them stored?

You can get a space rack that either hooks or screws into the back of the cupboard door and that way you can see all your spices at a glance every time you open that cupboard.

A spice rack would be good! My grandma had one at her house, I would suggest to place it somewhere in your kitchen where you can see it so you can easily figure out which spices you have and which ones you need to get from the store if they're running low. You could have your husband make one for you for an early Christmas present!

We have a corner cabinet where they are at right now, but it goes really far back so some of them just get lost.

I used to have 2 spice racks but never hung them up because the spices I buy are all different shapes and sizes that they don't all fit properly 🙁

I got this one from Amazon, and I like it. I just use a funnel and transfer my spices from their original containers over to the jars, and while the set comes with stickers, I made laminated stickers for mine that I stuck on the lids to write what the spice is and the day it expires before tossing the original bottle it comes in. I had the same issue before where I just had all my spices shoved in a cabinet and had to move stuff around to be able to see which spices I had (on top of also needing to double check the expiration date to make sure it was still good), and this makes it so much easier to see what I have without having to move things around.

The only downside with it is that some of my spices (mainly the powders) don't fit completely in the jar, so I'll have some left over in the original container. In those cases, I've just been using the rest of what's in the original container first, then the jar. Other than that though, it's been an overall good investment.

How sturdy is it when you start pulling out the bottles?

I haven't had any issues with it not being sturdy. I keep it on my kitchen counter near the stove and not in the cabinet though, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I'd prefer to not have anything on the counter because grease gets on everything in the kitchen no matter where it's at. I'm hoping to hide things in the cabinet.

That's fair! It would fit pretty well in my cabinets too, but I just wanted quick and easy access to my spices without the need to open a cabinet door (and so I could use the cabinet for storing other stuff).
