I came across to this page while searching for splash page inspiration for my page.. is it true that splash pages may drown site and turn visitors away?
Well I kinda agree with the article. People get impatient and hate long loading times, and search engines need to be able to get to your content for your site/forum to be successful.
I never saw the point. Why not just cut out the "middle man" which a splash page seems to be and just let the visitors see the real thing right away? I mean if a site needs a flashy preview site before it to have enough draw doesn't that indicate that your site's real front page could seriously use a bit of an upgrade in eye appeal?
I can maybe see a good use for a preview on certain kinds of artistic sites but not a forum...
