Has your forum ever had a sponsored competition were a company sponsored the competition and the prize can be anything from them? If so, what prizes did they offer and what company was it?

I may consider this sometime it sounds quite fun.

Yes, a tee shirt and rock memorabilia company approached me to run a contest. The contest didn't immediately boost sales, but increased traffic and later on a few members bought items from there.

They also sent me a tee shirt as a sample.

Posting competitions are the easiest and the best for your board because it boosts activity. Make sure you tell your members that spam posts wont be counted our you will see one word replies and smiley only posts everywhere. lol

Posting competitions are becoming a little bit overused now, they are a great way to gain post's but they just seem overused this past 2 months.

Had a person promote his book this way, though it was for an artistic contest : )

Each community is like its own little world.. So if you havent done it yet there at your forum, its new to your community and your members may find it fun. 😀

Not neccessarily, I have saw one or two companies do that for a forum that started out but I think the administrator knew the companies team or something.

How can they be considered overused? If you are going by what people say on FP, then your really drawing a small group of forums out of the whole Internet.

I had an author provide a free copy of his PHP book for a contest on my business forum. The contest got a lot of interest and hence publicity for the author and for the forum, it was win win and helped both of us.
