How can we spot a scammer? Well, one encounter I had in my earlier days of internet biz stuff was this guy trading links from Peru. Note, these were .edu links, said to be valuable in SEO at the time - and indeed they were! However, why was this is a scam? Well, as with most of these things, it was a passing fad, a passing scam fad! OK, if it wasn't, then where is his site now?

OK, what his site? Well, it was pretty impressive for a scheme. It was a whole vBulletin forum with lots of members, all of whom promised a .edu domain - in exchange for posting.

Anyway, who has seen these types of scams before? Feel free to share a story!

How come you never hear about regular people on the Internet? It seems like everyone on the Internet is smarter and more successful than you will ever be.

For those of you who are reading this and are complete and miserable failures like I am (and I'm sure there are plenty of you), let me make you feel better:

I'm twenty-six years old. I have a four-year degree, but I earn less than many fast food workers and co-own a house with my mother. I didn't have a serious partner until I was twenty-five. I have nearly ten thousand dollars in credit card debt and tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt.

Despite all of that, I'm happy to be alive. Why? I have a family and friends who love me. Things that people brag about on the Internet like six-figure salaries, expensive mansions (which they own in their twenties, of course), 850 credit scores, etc. don't even matter. Those things aren't timeless. Nobody will remember those things when you die.

Anybody else feel a little left behind?

If you see people who are successful online it's easy to be annoyed. Anyway, a lot of them just got there by scamming. However, the others had real good plans in place to get them out, they worked thru it, and now they're successful.

Trends change all the time, just because you don't have a crystal ball doesn't mean you're a scammer.

Other then checking there IP address (doesn't always comes back) you can tell how they are posting and what they say. I noticed that allot of spammers are always in the same locations in parts of the world.

Yet there are other spammers that I dealt with. Clean record with there IPs unless they using VPN. He was on other sites and yet when joining mind he spam allot of images of male's and even if got ban over and over he keeps on joining by creating more emails and changing his IP

Well, this was a British guy with a wrestling star knack for entertainment. He's the type moving from one site to another scamming people with spectacular pitches and web presentations!

Well, that's a good point, but I'd do a lot of research before putting trust in people anyway.

Anyway, as you were hinting at, there are legit gurus who aren't scamming, but probably because people are jealous or have a tough time copying their game, they would yell names.

Santos.
I sold a GTX 1080ti card yesterday and this was someone else that wanted to buy it. Umm...denied. Anytime someone wants you to contact them at a different email or do business outside of ebay or paypal even when it's all connected, it's a red flag!

I'm speaking here of what is known as a snake oil salesman. Anyway, you don't see them around in medicine shows nowadays - but they're a dime a dozen on the net! Who has seen one lately?
