Do you think this is morally acceptable? I mean staff posting a topic in a hidden section away from a member. Don’t you think it could harm the member relationship if the members smells what’s going on

You cannot harm what you don't build. It's natural for staff needing to talk about stuff in a private forum, regardless of who it is about.

If something needs to be discussed about how a member is acting on the forum, then it is only appropriate for the subject matter to be discussed in private forums. The only issue I see with this, is if someone doesn't have a high opinion of either side of the case, as that can cause issues where there shouldn't be one. Seen it before. Discussing something, and trying to hold back a full opinion on stuff, can be pretty hard to do too.

Yes it’s acceptable, staff need to discuss members from time to time, only way to do it is in a private forum.

Staff usually discuss a member who displays poor behavior. They try to determine if the member can be motivated to change the behavior (rehabilitation), needs to be put on mod queue or if it's time to issue a ban. These types of discussion help salvage a forum so they're necessary.

Now, if you don't mean the type of discussion I posted above, then do you mean "gossip"? Gossip for the sake of gossip is really bad form.

I wouldn’t put much faith into that assumption.
I've seen both the staff and TL forums. TL forums used to have all the good stuff. Several topics about me hidden away. The CT forum was fun at one point. Ya'll might be boring now a days but I doubt it. The world will never know though.

We’re not that boring.

Though the question is posed; @Bizdustry.com, would you be willing to open the staff board up for all your members to view it?

Just like in workplaces, there are times where managers and staff need to discuss things privately, albeit about a employee or a forum member. It’s a standard basically everywhere in life. Lol

I don't think ya'll are. I watch the active users list, I see all the hidden threads ya'll look at. Ozzy's corporate denial is all fun and games but we know. We know. I'm sure there's chips and salsa with all the tea being shared in the staff forums/discords/PMs.

You’ve had your fair share of chips and salsa too.

Lately most of staff has been looking at the multiple threads I've created in preparation for Member Appreciation Week starting June 27! It's a week long celebration and I've been trying to plan something new for each day.

"Member Appreciation Week" "Week Long Event" "June 27th"

Sounds like code words to me to justify talking about members behind their backs in private staff forums.

Kind of. I mean, we talked about FP first starting and long time members 🙂 Good talk. Nothing I'd be ashamed of it for some reason it ever went public.

One thing I keep in mind whenever I post on forums, public or private areas, is this...I used to be on staff on a very prominent Christian forum and they transitioned from vbulletin to XenForo but someone neglected to watch permissions and suddenly the private forums were ALL visible to everyone. So when you post, post as if it's someday going to be visible and have no regrets.

I understand what you are saying about the moral aspect. It is NOT good to talk about others behind their back. If I have an issue with one of my members, I try to resolve it one on one in PMs without getting others involved. I wish for that same courtesy.
But, my forum is smaller. With a bigger forum, I can see where more Staff as well as Staff only boards are warranted.
As @Lämmchen stated, there is Member Appreciation Week coming up that has involved a bunch of ideas & planning. Trying to make it enjoyable for all who would participate. There is a public thread:

If there is an issue with that said member and you have staff then it's natural you would need to discuss it behind closed curtains. All staff members should be involved in airing their opinions as to how to rectify the situation which is best for the forum and it's members.

I don't think it's a bad thing to discuss members and their behaviour as long as it remains civil. If you start attacking someone in a private forum it's a bit pathetic really. If you have beef, air it or shut up.
