This is one of my forum moderators at the server I'm admin on. As you can see, he's accrued 9,001 warning points (due to me playing around with his account [also changed user title and added a signature]).
In our community, the staff team is close enough we can joke around with each other. We tend to become close friends as well which I feel is great for staff teams as we all work together.
How does your staff team interact? Is it strictly business or do they get on great with each other? How does this affect their roles?
On forums I've previously owned about five years ago, we were all really close. I made some great friends out of it, like CMT who I met on a ProBoards forum I owned and he told me to come here! 🙂
My first goal in creating forums is to make friends so I try my best to be in good terms with the staff members. It does help to run things better because you're close with everyone. There are times when we must be serious, at other times we can joke around as usual. That kind of 'prank' is popular in another forum I'm part of with a big staff team. Xd
I have been warned so many times through my staff. 😛 I think instead of messaging each other they just warn and randomly ban each other, it's really entertaining and goes to show how close we are. We all have each others phone numbers as well. 😛 If it was strictly business I would probably leave eventually, I just dislike those kind of environments. I've always been taught staff teams should be the closest of members, even when they leave.
About a week ago one of the mods banned everyone that could be banned and put a riddle in the ban message, and to get unbanned you have to text him the answer. 😛 He didn't actually mean to ban everyone but in the end it all worked out and I was totally okay with it. Staff should be joking, pranking, and having a ball with each other and then get serious when the time comes. It's really boring when none of the staff talk to teach other, or when only a few staff play pranks on each other, and it eventually reflects to the rest of the community in a negative way. 😛
But yeah, I love playing pranks on staff members. When I get a new position on the forum I usually don't since you have no idea what the admins or other staff would think even when they are doing the same. :lol: I tend to hire staff members that just be themselves and prank around, someone who is uptight all the time doesn't make for a good staff member IMO.
