Have you ever hired a staff member with bad spelling/grammar? I think I might have done it once, but I haven't done it regularly and if someone has bad spelling/grammar and applies for a staff position, I will be quite judgemental on that and probably reject them.

Have you ever hired someone with bad spelling/grammar?

teehee...sometimes, i use awful grammar. But that is me being lazy and using short hand.

Though i have to admit seeing it from another member of staff it does look slap dash.

No, I give them a template inspect that, then I chat with them on MSN for approx 30 minutes to make sure there spelling is okay, lol.

I'm guilty as well. ~cool~ I just have to much to do, and don't have much time to proofread. I'm an excellent speller; but my hands type so fast, I'm bound to make typos.

I do have one staff member; but, he's from mexico, and doesn't have the best english, so he'll mess up on his vowels occasionally.

But, everyone actually finds it humorous, and it's part of what to expect from him, now 😀

Well ive hired a few people who use the text writing. I admit i use that depending who i talk to on msn and such. Usually to people on here i use English -lol- but to mates i use text as its so much easier and quicker sometimes.

But i feel on forums its far more formal and i feel if someone is using all text writing then it doesnt look good. Its just as bad when someone use '1337' writing.

I have not hired someone with bad spelling/grammar and I don't think I ever will. I can understand you making some mistakes because no one is prefect but if all your post is like a text message then you need to go back to the 1st grade and learn how to write English. The only exception is if your from a different country and your new to the language.

i have a staff with poor forum english. everything is slang and txtin language lol he always says m8 and stuff like that. but he's a good friend of the person that started the site with me so i really dont mind. people from america always think its cool to read his stuff lol

Whether or not it's a problem or not depends on how bad it is for me, if its a few typo's here and there i wouldn't really be bothered, although if it was too often i'd probably ask him to install a spellchecker in his Browser (something i recommend for everyone anyway).

I wouldn't fire someone because of it, but i would ask them to improve.

I admit I have been guilty of this.

However he was soon demoted back to a regular member due to him not doing the job I ask him to do.
