When you start a forum, do you prefer to start small and grow steadily or to start small and grow fast? You might think growing fast is the best solution, but there could be down sides, such as if lots of people join quickly and then only post once or twice and leave. Where as, securing even a few diehard loyal members weekly who post lots and don't leave might be the best long term strategy. The first way simply gives you content, but the second gives you a strong member base that will return time and again over the years. What is your strategy for forum growth?

Let's brainstorm some ways to start even the smallest forum out right and get those loyal members who really want to stick around.

One idea might be to scout other forums where you are a regular and find others who share similar views and then make friends with them and ask them to come guest post on your forum. What are some other ways?

Start small and grow steady has worked for me 🙂 I don't like growing too fast because as you say a lot of people come and post just the once and then leave.

Either, I don't mind. As long as it's not 'start small and stay small two years later'.

This concept it is good , but you need to start with a small team , this is very important.
SEO is very important too , you need to advertise your site how much as you can , this is the main problem.
If you really want to grow fast , you will need to invest some moneys on your site , if you want to do a bussines , stay chill , you will get them back soon and if you have an advertise forum or just a small bussines with 10$ profit per day.
