Start url shortner website?

Do you think I should start a url shortner website?Do you think it would be a success or a flop?

There are already quite some out there so I'm not sure...

It mainly depends from how smooth it works the script and what domain it uses. (Has to be short and easy to remember.)

That and the exposure of the site is what the success depends on.

I think you can only have one site for this, it's not like different sites of URL shortening can offer different things.

It will be a flop, most people use bit.ly and do not stray away from it. I have a url shortner that I have had for about 2 years and it only has had about 3,000 links shortened (a large chunk from api requests).

Hard to beat and compete against the current sites, like Godaddy's "x.co"

You've got to ask yourself, what would set YOU apart from the already successful companies?

Firstly, i wouldn't recommend but if you do choose to do it, make sure you choose the one like bit.ly where you get paid to shorten links and need to go through ads page. This would earn you the more money than an ordinary one.
