Hi all,

I been thinking a lot lately on starting up a new/another forum, I previously ran 3 forums before, 2 sold and 1 I just lost my passion about (Hacking).
I love constructing forums, but here I am stuck like many others at the door step (initial stage) picking up the niche of my new forum. Things I love to write, discuss and share about are: Gaming, SEO & Design. I do have fair knowledge on PC help and support as well.

It is a big NO for anything blackhat, reason any pro webmaster sure doesnt want kids or leechers visiting their site.

I'd be grateful if people here could guide me in the right direction as to which niche should I pick up and start on.

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you just combine all in one? Gaming and design would work wonders together. Most SEO forums simply don't interest me one way or the other, as I find the process too mechanical. It's better to focus on conventional subjects, albeit without being yet another general discussion forum. Try putting together a forum for indie game project developers to show off their sprites, tutorials, and whatnot.

Thanks a lot for your reply. An all in one discussion isnt a bad idea. It is in fact my first thought as well. Cheers!

If your passion is gaming and design, then a community about that should be one you could potentially excell at.

Combining all ideas into one website can work because it provides you with large amount of information to build content. At the same time, though, you will also need to work hard to bring all those elements to life, or it will not look good. I personally prefer to be specific. Much better if you really know a lot in that specific area and it has good prospect ahead.

For example, gaming. Is there any specific game you really love and know a lot about? Maybe it's an upcoming game which is part of certain series, so you can at least pump the community with news and releases when there's nothing else to talk about.

I can't give specific instructions but I hope this helps a bit. My point is if you feel confused or unsure running general themes, you can try to be more specific and gamble with that.

You are certainly on the right track. Just like they say about starting businesses, passion about your project is what matters, and is what will allow it to flourish and succeed. As said above, you could combine multiple ideas. You could do a general PC forum, involving the technical, software, gaming, and so on. However, keep in mind, sometimes having a forum that is very specific to one topic is much easier to promote (as you know the exact audience you want).

Choose that passion that you are most passionate and knowledgeable about and go from there! 🙂

Think about the future though... is it a passion that you will continue to build expertise in? Because you will need to do this... Is it a passion that you will continue to love in the future? Because you will need to do this...
