Howdy guys, i'd firstly like to say i apologize if this happens to be in the wrong section.

so.. i've been thinking a lot lately on starting up a new/another forum, i have previously ran Gen Lounge, which i sold roughly 2 months ago. It wasn't very active nor was i dedicated that much, that's definitely a big negative. I just for some reason love constructing forums, especially themes, but i'm not sure the question that's mostly in my mind is that if i would be dedicated in every way. and another is that i don't have anyone helping me so how would i go about doing this solo. at the same time i just really want to do it, but then again, i don't want to be doing something i wont take serious. but please note that i am NOT saying that i won't take this forum serious if i decide to do it..

what do you think should i or should i not?

I think you should plan everything carefully before starting a new forum. I have made the mistake of not planning things carefully in the past. I don't have a specific idea for you but I think you should try to do something unique that no one else is offering. Good luck with your project.

Thank you, i'll keep that in mind.

Have you considered teaming up with someone? I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of having someone else to manage a forum. There is less pressure and the work is relatively split in half. Of course, the trick is finding someone you can trust. There is also the fact that you cannot claim that it's 100% yours because you have a partner.

As far as starting up a new forum if you want to do it I say go for it. This time around though try to stay clear of general forums because there are just so many of them out there. Think about your hobbies and interests. What are some of the subjects that you are truly passionate about that you can talk about niche 24/7?

TBH I think it's better to have a group of friends do it with you. I own my forum 100% because it was mainly my idea and I made it but I had a group of friends who joined immediately and have been active members ever since.

Given your username and avatar, a music forum would probably be a more rewarding experience. I run a metal forum, and it's something that I feel incredibly passionate about.

Passion. Passion is key when it comes to doing anything in life. Otherwise, you will feel burnt out and lose motivation to keep doing whatever it is you're doing. If you are going to make a general forum try to make it like no other general forum - offer something that no one else is offering.
