Starting a New Forum

I am looknig for ideas on a new forum to start. My other forum Forum Lair will still be online so no need to worry about that if anyone is 😉

I have knowledge in the following forum niches:

Webhosting
Forum Administration
Forum Promotion
General Chat
Gaming

But I just don't know were to start. Normally I can choose the domain and niche and I am ready to start, but now-a-days with the many forums that are coming online I am finding it hard to find unique forum to start. I can obviously run a forum well (not trying to sound big headed) and the hosting is sorted, I just need ideas on a domain name and what to base my forum on.

Whoever gives me the best suggestion will win 78FP (brings me to a toal of 1,000 fp then). 🙂

Well actually you're right. There are probably hundreds or thousands or hundred thousands of forums related to those specific niches.

You need to come with an attractive combination of all them. Firstly as suggested by other users, an easy to remember name and therefore, domain name. Get hosting from established companies. You should analyze all the forum softwares available. All come to offer the same result, a board where users can post and reply, but not all of them have the degree of customization and support that others have.

I launched a webmaster forum a couple of weeks ago, so if you like my project, I would be interested in having you added to the team.

So your saying the 5 niches I have knowledge in I should put them all into 1 forum? This isn't a bad idea, bt could put a lot of forums onto the board.

You should create something that you have interest of. 😛

Otherwise, you'll get bored and your forum will fail.

Yeah, like I said they are the niches I know but creating a forum with those is pretty hard without adding something unique.

As long as you advertise well, get a decent template, don't use MyBB, get a TLD, you'll do well. 🙂

Nothing wrong with MyBB 😉 But yeah I can get the TLD and advertising it won't be a problem. It's just getting the domain name that is.
