Sleepy Joe gave his State of the Union address this evening. I've watched plenty of State of the Union addresses over the years, and this one was the most political I've ever seen. Felt like a Biden campaign speech the whole time. In all seriousness, Biden said some good things, and he only fumbled in his speech a couple times. I was impressed by his competence.

Marjorie Taylor Greene embarrassed herself, in my opinion. She spoke out of turn a couple times. She wore a MAGA hat to the event. Has that happened before? A Senator from Alabama (Katie Britt) that I've never heard of gave the formal response to Biden's State of the Union, and I thought that was pretty bad. Why is a random Senator doing this, and not a more prominent name of the Republican Party?

In conclusion, our whole political system is a soap opera, and we're screwed regardless. 😛

I am curious where you are getting your information on unemployment? There are plenty of things to pick out that aren’t going well, but that’s the one thing that’s stayed pretty consistent since rebounding from COVID. Looks like our unemployment rate is 3.9% at the moment? My understanding is that is healthy. You don’t want 0% unemployment.

I also didn’t say anywhere that I hate MTG. I said she embarrassed herself, and that’s an opinion I saw from plenty of Republicans and Democrats last night. Her behavior was tacky.

Bro. I'm SEE'ing it. Not just in California, but here in Alabama. One is a Democrat stronghold, one is a hard Republican stronghold.

I'm seeing more buildings with closed signs, "We're hiring," signs in BOTH places. Before AND after 2018. It only got worse in 2020. (And don't you say it was Trump's fault, because it wasn't.)

New York is like Detroit, where it was a bubbling business mecca. Its not anymore. Robberies everywhere, flash mobs.. Crime is LEGAL. Same on California, and most Democrat strongholds. Like Seattle. So unemployment IS down. Chicago is not immune to this. Oh no. Most major chains have closed shop in all of the above. These are the "Defund the police" retards.

Personally I find most politicians elected in recent years to be an embarrassment. MTG really did herself no favours when she told Emily Maitlis to 'f*** off' during an interview. No doubt she was provoked but if that's now become an acceptable way to handle provocative interviews then we are all in trouble.

Back on topic, and I'm in no position to criticize given the imbeciles we have elected in the UK, is Biden and Trump really the best you can do? Biden almost certainly has Parkinson's disease while Trump has obvious memory lapses which may just be old age but could also be the first signs of dementia.

There really has to be people more suited to represent us or should we just throw in the towel, sit back and wait for the inevitable. With the doomsday clock sitting at 90 seconds to midnight the future in not looking particularly bright.

Is there like a two party system up in there? If so, look at it from the perspective of a civil war. Who is on the left? Who is on the right?

For example, right now there is a split in both republicans and democrats, but there ARE politicians who are fighting for this country. MTG is one of them. Matt Gaetz is another. Ron DeSantis is another, but the issue is that he exposed himself as establishment during this election. (Sigh!) Go watch anything from CPAC. Seriously.

The only weakness, and I agree with Tim Pool on one thing, and I give credit to Democrats on one thing: Republicans "don't do anything about things they say they care about" but do things in some areas. I don't often read US media or the UK media for that matter. Having said that Trump has been on my radar since the mid 70's because of his financial wheeling and dealing rather than his political aspirations. You could well be right about his mental faculties but my take from listening to recent speeches is he's not anywhere near as sharp as he used to be.

I hope so, we have an incoming general election in the UK, possibly as early as May. After 14 years of right leaning mayhem, we are now facing a left wing landslide. What could possibly go wrong!

Sounds a bit like our issue. Most politicians right now are proxies for the PACs that get funded. Individuals / Corporations > PAC / Super PAC > Politician(s). The same goes for District Attorneys. That's why we have a revolving door of crime at the moment.

The biggest offenders of this right now is the Democrats. Your issue is not too far different. The difference is, from what you've said, you have a 3rd wheel. (Independent)

We have Independents, but they usually do not get onto the main, general election. That's why you only hear Democrats and Republicans.

You hear conservative/liberals because our next door neighbor is Canada, so most marketing is universal.
