Hi

So these guys often advertise themselves on web hosting forums. I just want to let you know that they are not to be trusted.

Basically I have been a customer of Twention.com for a few months... recently they have locked my license for cPanel despite being a paying customer. When I ask them to remove the lock they refuse to. They also will not refund me what I have paid last week.

I am not at all happy with their service.

Sorry to hear that! 🙁

What do you mean by locking the license? Do you mean they suspended the cPanel account, or do you have a cPanel license for a VPS through them?

I have a cPanel license through them. I get a page saying that the license cannot be found. They have not provided me a reason obviously as they're a new business they obviously didn't pay for my license correctly.

If I file an escalation since it's an online product who would usually win? Buyer or seller?

Ah, that's weird. I don't see why they'd refuse to help resolve the issue.

Anyway, I have my cPanel license through cPanel itself rather than a reseller. Think it costs a little bit more, but fortunately I've never had any issues with them.

What annoys me is they say "We will fix it soon" and days later still waiting. They continue to say this but do not follow through.

Hope I can just get a refund not happy with this company. I've decided to go through Site5 and explained to them my issue and got a free month.

Site5 said they would be happy to migrate my hosting accounts into my Site5 hosting account but they cannot do that if they cannot log into cPanel 😛

Maybe I should give up on my dream of being a web developer. As now I will have to redo my clients websites. Luckily I only have about six but it's trying to get the content again without them getting mad at me - because this isn't my fault. #joysof2015

Don't you have a backup of your client's websites?

It's all sorted now. Shocking that it took quite a while. I keep my backups in WHM and of course I couldn't get into it. But they have sorted it - am slowly changing my clients sites to Site5.com though.

Absolutely always backup offsite and/ or download regular backups to your PC. A cheap storage VPS from https://www.time4vps.eu/ would be perfect for that extra security.

Glad you managed to get everything sorted. 🙂

I have an Amazon storage account but I was dumb enough to completely forget to set up the backups to go into that.

Mistakes happen. Luckily this one doesn't seem like it's costly and my clients are OK.

Site 5 moved all the accounts over, and I have just won the escalation so Paypal gave me a full refund 🙂
