I'm not sure if this is the right section, cause it really doesn't have to do with forums, yet it kinda does.

I want to start making a steady income online, like one would if they owned a hosting company. What are some ideas I could do to get in a Steady flow of money? I do not know coding yet, but I'll be learning it very shortly. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I been trying to find a proper way of earning some income online as well but with no success. I would love to own a cheap hosting company but cannot find any proper guides on how to start a hosting company. Hopefully someone will be able to help us 🙂

Well I have seen people purchase keyword domains and turn them into a passive income site. Some people can make as high as $2K a month without doing work in the long term. You will need to know a lot about domains though and how to make a passive income site.

You get a job (either offline or online) and invest $$$ in your idea, 😉
Or seek out sponsors or partners.

There's your answer. 😉

Resellers aren't really all that expensive. It depends on where you go. Admittedly running your own servers can be quite expensive but it all depends on your needs and how you want to go about it. But if you can't even afford the most basic reseller package then, yes, don't bother starting a web host as no one really appreciates free hosting services any more. Those that use free hosts use them because they cannot afford anything else. 😉 It's not always good practice to go with the cheapest option. 😉

But, in all honesty, to earn real money online you have to be prepared to invest in something...even if that something doesn't require much investment. The other option is to, as Marc says, get a job. 😎

Well, I myself have just set up a simple webhosting page.

I don't have any custommers yet, but that is because I haven't advertised my hosting company yet.
However, setting up webhosting isn't that hard, and if you want I could help you set it up. All it cost me to set up my hosting was 11 bucks a year for a domain and an old computer I had lying around to use as a server.

In short, this is what you need:
- A computer to use as server / cheap server space
- CentOS (Linux / Operating system)
- Virtualmin (A system that can manage all the domains that your clients have purchased, as well as email, ftp access and mysql databases)
- The Hosting Tool / BitCoin (An automated billing script on which your users can sign up for a domain)
- A domain name

And if you've got all that setup then you're ready to receive clients.

So yeah, if you want some help on getting started, and paying as little as possible then just send me a PM.

Work for someone else.

You'll have to have some established skills and from there you just need to sell yourself. Essentially, find yourself some leads and go sell yourself.

You are using an old computer you had lying around as a server? What about bandwidth- what's your uplink?

I have 3 servers, but our upload speeds are 0.6mbps and 3mhps.

Well yeah, I do pay extra to my ISP. My upload speed is 1.56 mbps, and if you're interested, my download speed is 25.2 mbps, so bandwith isn't really an issue for me.

Just for interests sake- it'd be great to see how fast a site on your setup is... 🙂

Yeah 🙂 Well I do have my own site, or forum to be exact, however I can't really test my own connection as I'm on the same network 😛

I've always had part of me that would love to buy and sell domains for a living, would be awesome. I'd love to set up a domain selling site but it's a huge gamble.

I know our schools website us hosted on their own in school servers, they have a T1 like with fiber backhaul. About 25mbps connection, with 25mbps upload
