I've recently visited a forum. And I got to say, STOP TROLLING! That forum has non-stop trolling. It was insane.

So, do you hate trolls in forums?

I love trolls. How can you not? The only thing I hate is how retarded this thread is.

Just kidding.

I'm a huge troll on other forums. I personally find SOME of them to be honest and realistic, but of course, in a rude and mean kind of way. Trolls are almost everywhere. You have to accept them, especially if the moderator(s) are long-time friends with them.

Simply ignore, and report them. That's the best way to get past trolls. By replying and saying "STOP TROLLING," you're really only helping them out.

Trolls are actually hilarious to play along with until you are tired of them then you simply ban them 😀

Most of the ones that have been on my forums have been my friends from real life coming to mess with me. >_> 😛

I have never had that problem, probably cause most of my friends don't understand the purpose of forums.

Yes, I do dislike trolls (e.g. the first two people who replied to this topic). It really reflects the pattern the world is following; people aren't happy anymore unless someone else is unhappy. It's not fun unless someone else's feelings are being hurt. It's not "okay" to be sensitive, emotional, etc. anymore.

I dislike trolls, how much? Very much. If ANYONE trolls in my forum, they will get smashed by my ban hammer

*Gets out ban hammer*

I'm lucky in the sense that my hubby is excellent at "great comebacks" so any time trolls try to start something he just ties them in knots, if he's not around then I can always use the delete button when they get too much, over on my site we are all very like minded so trolls are really entering a bear pit.

Mmmmm new idea for a forum......The Troll Zone (insert evil laugh here)

They already invented that. They call it "4chan."

Trolling doesn't necessarily mean putting down others. However being a severe pain in the ass (e.g. the poster of the sixth reply) does require that.

OK, enough of the trolling, you've all had a quick snipe now lets get back onto the actual discussion please 😉

Expanding on my reasoning, somebody registered on a forum that I frequent as "Brian Peppers" (obviously not being the real Mr. Peppers). He proceeded to ask stupid questions and acted like an idiot. He was trolling but not putting down others.

I wasn't implying that all trolls are the ones who put down others; I meant that some are, and it really follows the trend of the real world, too. Look at all the reality shows that exist just to make people feel like complete idiots. Nothing can just be good-natured anymore.

It all depends on what we individually define as trolling......a member does not have to be nasty to be classed as a troll, someone can as you say be a pest by writing stupid stuff because they know it will irritate, other members openly speak there mind before thinking, what do you all define as a troll?

I see a troll as a person who deliberately sets out to cause havoc in any way to disrupt the normal flow of a place.

Edit: Unfortunately Snobo, not everyone in the world is as optomistic as you and I

I love good trolls actually. When someone is being a complete and utter idiot, someone is often needed to give them a ''reality check''. Good, honest, blunt truth can be remarkably insulting, but hilarious to watch.

Any community needs one or two to become complete. With a good troll, usually the community accepts them because they know the time and the place to do it. Bad trolls get shunned because they don't.

I think that it's great when people are nice most of the time, but you do need your fill of laughter every now and again. I only step in when things are getting overboard.

Luckily for me, there has been no trolls in my Forum by now. It's highly irritating how someone just wants to cause trouble and such for the sake of it.

And...

THAT! In my point of view, this is what a troll is.

Sorry Shadow, I hate forums where people are continuously nice. A lot of my skills interacting on forums comes from being trolled like hell for a few months on another forum. Eventually I got my pretentious side beaten out of me and now I'm at least a fairly respectable 'netcitizen.

I'll admit that too much niceness can be a bit overbearing but I'd rather interact with those types of people instead overly negative/depressing people.
