Has anyone seen these? If you're not familiar, this article was very informative http://thenextweb.com/insider/2015/04/09/this-sucks/. I do not think this will accomplish anything except troll people. There really isn't much of a use for them other than things like cancer.sucks . I believe most of these domains will be used for people to troll celebrities and big business. Would you ever use this? Do you expect anything positive to come from them?
My gut feeling is that this is basically an extortion racket. I imagine these will be bought by people who don't want to be trolled, more than by people who will actually be trolling people, you know what I mean? π
I see plenty of uses for them. Whilst there will be trolls, that's with anything. For example, there's the ever famous website - pota.to. Whilst that is a "troll" website by some standards, I have also seen more legitimate uses of the domain .to
I have a feeling that you guys are right. Some of these newer TLD's just seem so.. specific for a lot of people to use. I wonder what the people coming up with these domain extensions are thinking they'll be used for. π
It is a ridiculous domain, but they've tried to get creative since domain names were so hard to come by. Decent ones anyway. This makes it a lot harder to monopolize domain names, and expect a lot more variety and creative uses for them.
Is there any example of websites using this domain? It's an interesting name, and much like you guys here it's hard to imagine what people will use it for except trolling or writing controversial content.
But then I think it's also possible to use it exactly the opposite way: to combat trolls. That will be an ironic use, no? π
Websites that use .sucks domains would most likely be troll websites unless it's on a serious topic; as mentioned in the opening post, sites such as cancer.sucks would be pretty smart + they aren't troll sites and personally I believe such sites would achieve a little more than average activity.
Interesting! There seems to be many new domain extensions recently. I don't think anyone would use that for a proper project because it looks unprofessional. If I saw a website with that domain extension on google, I probably would think it contains a virus or something so I wouldn't click on it so I don't actually think it would generate much traffic.
I guess some people may use it for trolls but I would generally avoid going on those sites.
But I can see single-purpose websites working somewhat well with .sucks or other special tlds. Imagine a political candidate getting a .sucks domain with their opponents name. π
Oh how I can already imagine the types of "websites" that will be using these domains.
For me it's just offputting. I judge a website by many things, and that includes a domain name. I don't see many people trusting some of these new domains, let alone the .sucks one.
yahoo.sucks, google.sucks, gosh I can already imagine all the people that will buy these and just have a ball.
