.Sucks Extension and the Type of Sites It Would Fit

I'm sure the gTLD would get some political use. 😉

And possibly be the tool for abuse if someone doesn't like your site.

Good idea to buy the extension then and point it to a page listing all the reasons to like your site 😉 However, for $200/year that seems a bit ridiculous 😛 I Find it annoying having to pay $100/year for some of my TLD's as it is. Nvm $200!

I always thought the .sucks extension sucked. It's something that could really only be used for political/trolling purposes. It's just pretty useless for something constructive.

The pricing is ludicrous, but if you're buying something like this, you most likely have too much disposable income anyway.

Agreed.

cancer.sucks
transphobia.sucks

it is useful for a few things?

The sites that deal with this kind of thing are more than likely going to be .org and .com domains. No one will take the .sucks domains seriously.
True, though I could say a site using the .sucks domain to go to a landing page of sorts, that then leads to the homepage of the .org/.net/.com website.

Like you go to cancer.sucks out of curiosity, get an attractive landing page, and then are led to the American Cancer Society homepage (or donation page) through your next click.

I like your idea, but an improvement would be that you provide links to as many cancer research organizations as possible (globally). Perhaps split them up based on the type of cancer.

Yeah, that too. I was thinking it would be something the ACS set up themselves. It could also be an independent thing and do as you said.

.sucks could be used to target younger people better, so I think the idea of a landing page containing societies and charities could benefit them in the long run 🙂

I'm not the type that would create such mean sites - but my brother would !! :vamp:

I can imagine it being used by three types of people:

  • Conservative far-rights who are absolute bigots
  • People with good intentions that want to make their campaign stand out
  • Triggered idiots who want to cause drama
Are there any rules about registering .sucks domains?

Conservative far-rights who are absolute bigots

They're usually trying to hide their views with pretty language. It's kind of funny cause that's just what the left does. For instance, they won't say "We hate blacks.". They will say "You should be proud of your white heritage".

I know for a fact I'm not far-leftist, since pure socialism and communism won't work... but then again, the other end of the spectrum, pure capitalism etc. doesn't work very well either. A mix of the two works.

However I really don't want this going offtopic xD

The far-right isn't really the far-right. I mean, just cause they're racist doesn't mean they favor capitalism; in fact, many are highly cynical of it. Actually that sort of stuff is more along the lines of white identity politics - but no going off-topic here!
