I have a awesome domain but after some thought from my previous thread. I don't really know what to do anymore.

forumservices.org

Is the domain name I have what do you think I should make with this awesome domain?

Offer free forum services?

What kind of services? Also should it be simply a forum or should I use wordpress with a few addons to make it easy to request those services?

You could partner with LiquidServe (me) and then I have hosting which I could offer for free to people to make forums for themselves and all this for free!
Later we can do some additinal ad removal service and premium hosting something like that! PM me if you interested!
😀 Got this idea just now! 😛

You could offer forum installation, modifications, etc.

Yes, offering it form a WP blog is a good idea, but remember that your clients will be forum owners, so requesting a service through a forum will not be difficult for them.

Main question is if I was to simply make it a forum.. What forum software would you suggest? Personally I would go with Xenforo but then again.. I used it so much I felt like going with a different forum software.

I would suggest going with IP Board there are lots of plugings available with it! And about earlier! We would be sharing revenue from here equally 50-50!

I no longer have a IPB license since I sold it. I used to have one but not anymore. Also thanks for that idea of yours but I don't think it will work out. 😛

Maybe you can develop a blog about forums and tips to keep them running at optimal speeds, security, tips to improve traffic, etc. The word "service" doesn't primarily have to mean what it sounds like. It can be "servicing your forum" just like you would service your car to keep it running good. 🙂 :great:

I would go towards of it being a site that has services for forums. But I see what you're talking about. 😛

If you're doing a forum, use MyBB if you want a free option or vBulletin for a paid option.

Hmm...If you need a unique forum idea...
Focus on a niche of promotion based topics.
For example, my site www.AD5.co focuses on ad placements, and affiliations.
Perhaps you should focus on forum optimization, technical aspects, etc.

Usually promotion boards only have a small technical section. Perhaps you could focus solely on:
-Scripting/coding
-Speed optimization (cloudflare, etc)
-Security, and anti spam
-Management skills

Basically the stuff that needs to be focused on...Advertising isn't everything. You still need to have an efficiently run/managed site even if you have a lot of visitors.

Your site could help people do that.

Thanks for the ideas. Also I do have a vBulletin license. Then again the software completely sucks.. So I might just go with MyBB. 😛

No! vBulletin does not suck whatsoever. I have owned sites on vBulletin, been staff at them and been a member at them - they're awesome!

I would just test which software you like, its not like you cant transfer later and/or trade Xenforo for IPB

I was simply saying my opinion of what I thought of it. I could give many reasons why I think it does. But we all have our reasons why we hate this and that forum software anyway. 😛

I enjoy many of the forum software. I just get to picky to choose myself sometimes.

Fair enough 😀
Well from here you should compile a list of all the available forum software. Then eliminate the ones you will definitely not use, for whatever reason.
then when you are left with a list of forum software you are interested in using, eliminate the ones that you don't have the money for, or don't want to spend money on.
Then just do a pros and cons of all the forum software left/you know about.

As far as paid forum software - start with free or use an already acquired license, then if you want to use a paid software when your forum lifts off - go for it. (just make sure that there is a solid convert plugin for the software you choose, and the one you'd want to convert it to)

I am at the moment decided to use MyBB. I do have a Xenforo license but I think i'll start off with a free forum software and see how it goes. Then if it ends up becoming popular I can always convert to Xenforo or stay (if the members wanted to stay with MyBB.) 😛
