Sunscreen

When you go outside, do you wear sunscreen? Do you fear exposing yourself to the sun?

I never willingly go outside unless it rains, so I never have to worry about this. 😀 When I'm forced to go outside, though, I'll wear sunscreen if possible. I fear the sun. D:

I put on sunblock when I am going to take my shirt off to go swimming but other than that no.. If I don't have any sunblock then I will just wear a shirt in the pool.

I lost my mother to skin cancer. After that happened I looked up more information on it and men are at higher risk of getting the cancer starting in their back. For women its the legs.... My mom's cancer started in her leg.

The weather in Scotland is pretty good so my mums been moaning about wearing sunblock, but I never do. I usually keep my t-shirt on unless it is after 6 o'clock and the suns going down but still warm.

I am wearing shorts everyday, my uncles wedding is coming up in Barbados and I am even wearing shorts for the wedding but my mum cut like the bottom of them of to make them into shorts.

:roll: :roll: :roll: Thats nothing to joke about. I lost my mom to skin cancer (melanoma). She passed away at 49. The cancer spread to her lymph nodes and for two years she had tumors popping up and had to go through several painful surgeries to get them removed and chemotherapy at the same time. When the end came near she was in so much pain she could not even talk or move. She lost so much weight she was pretty much a skeleton. We had to have a closed casket funeral because she did not look like her self at all. I am happy that she is not enduring that hell any more and is free of all the pain and suffering.

I would not wish this cancer on my own worst enemy.

I am the first to admit that I am a sun-worshipper, I love to be tanned, but theezy has a point it's not actually a joking matter. It is a profound reminder of what danger the sun or sunbeds can do. I had a scare last year while doing sunbed sessions when a mark come up on my leg, I've not used them since and now when I sunbath I make sure to apply some sun cream so I get a gentle colour rather than a deep scarlet burn. Why do we always think it won't happen to us?

We dont. Its easier to live in ignorance. But the fact is that bad sun burns in the 1st 20 years of life can dramatically increase your risks of skin cancer later on in life. Also the use of tanning beds or laying out in the sun can dramatically increase the risks as well. A slow painful early death for the price of tan skin or being too lazy to take a few seconds out of your day to put on some sunblock doesn't seem worth it to me.

I only ever wear it if My mom Makes me or if I am going to spend the whole day outside without my shirt on. If it's just My arms or legs then I don't care because I have a decent tan that protects me.
