Super Bowl 2018 - Eagles vs Patriots

Patriots, I just like the name and they seem to be nicer then eagles 😛

Eagles. I'm surprised they got this far after Wentz went down. Pats should've lost to Jacksonville.

I'm a Patriots fan. I think they'll win by 10 points if Gronk plays. If Gronk doesn't play, I bet they still win by 6 or 7.

I think Jacksonville got too conservative near the end. Teams can't play to hold a lead versus the Patriots (Tom Brady)... they need to keep playing as if they are behind. Punting before half-time was a mistake... too conservative.

Jacksonville did fairly well with Blake Bortles, he did what he needed to. They have a great team, I think they need to upgrade at QB though, even though I think Bortles is hilarious as a person.

So happy with the Eagles win - even though at first I didn't care (too far away geographically from both teams). Anyway, my reasoning is they never won before (something I found out later in the game).

It looks like now, that they will re-sign Bortles. Many people think like you, that they do need an upgrade at QB. But you can't argue that Bortles improved in some key areas during the season. His accuracy went up and he threw less picks when it counted.

I'm happy they won also. They deserved it, and Foles is a terrific story of a regular guy who got a major opportunity and was ready to take advantage of it.

How about the play where he (The Eagle) went into the end-zone but the ball all sort of came out of his hands?

Jacksonville just needs to focus on stability. They'd be stupid to go out and replace Bortles. He may not be a HOF quarterback, but he's good enough. That's all they need. Don't fix what isn't broken. The defense was incredible and the offense looked better than decent. Fournette is a beast.

If you watch that play in slow motion, he broke the plane with full possession of the football, seconds before the ball squirted out of his hands for a bit. Anytime a player breaks the plane with full grip on the ball it's a touchdown. Even if he loses it 1 or 2 seconds afterwards. That rule is all about what occurs in real time, at that very second. Now if he hadn't crossed the end zone yet and that ball pops out, then it would've perhaps, been ruled an incomplete pass I believe.

I was hoping for the Pats to win but knew that the Eagles was going to win. :banghead:

The Eagles seemed destined to win it all, even after Carson Wentz went down. Their defense coupled with their already growing momentum, made them a lock as a Super Bowl favorite.

This is true. Too bad they couldn't do it with Chip Kelly.

Chip Kelly isn't that great of a coach at the NFL level, so they wouldn't have been able to. I think part of the reason that the Eagles won is that they stayed aggressive throughout the entire game. They didn't try and burn clock, they went for it on 4th down when they needed and they didn't stop with their offensive pressure. I think teams try and hold the lead too much versus the Patriots and it ends up costing them as Brady and crew are incredible at driving when needed.

The Falcons tried to last year but ran out of gas by the end of the 3rd quarter. Some teams aren't built to go full steam offensively throughout an entire game. Great coaching won the Eagles this SB. You have to outcoach BB to win an important game like that from him.

Chip's problem was he didn't have the people skills to relate to his players. He came across more as a boss or dictator instead of a coach. Also he was obsessed with running that silly Oregon system. Even though it wasn't working.

The Falcons suffered an injury in that Superbowl to one of their key backs I believe. I think that killed their momentum, Tevin Coleman I believe it was. The Falcons had not dealt with injuries all game long. To lose a critical piece like Coleman mid-game really changed up their offense. They became conservative, and it cost them the Superbowl.

Bit late for this but I'm glad the Eagles won, given their history compared to the Pats' I can't help rooting for them as I love watching "underdogs" win.
