As many of you may have heard swine flu is going large in Mexico and its been said that 149 people have died so far. It also has been confirmed that its here in the UK. It seems the couple are being treated however, and they should make a good recovery. The World Health Organisation have raised the threat level from three to four which is apparently two steps below a pandemic.

Just saw another story about how its spreading now, here's a quote from it.

New Zealand confirmed at least three cases on Tuesday, and Israel one.

The US, Canada, Spain and Britain confirmed cases earlier but no deaths have been reported outside Mexico.

omg NZ ...thts like near australia ): nuuuu dont come here stupid swine flu

None in france so far, thats a relief, lets hope this gets under control soon

As the UK is an island it's either really good for us, or really bad for us XD

Slight over-reaction I feel. Any disease could lead to a possible pandemic but they all get 'neautrilized' before they lead to wide spread across the world and lead to many deaths. The LEDCs are highly likely to suffer from this terribly due to their not so state of the art facilities to treat the victims unlike MEDCs who can cure or at least treat their patients. Swine Flu is something to be taken seriously, but not something that should scare the public to no end. It has the possiblity to be a terrific disease but I doubt it will escalate.

Travellers returning from affected areas in Mexico and the US (California, Texas) should
observe their personal health and if within seven days after return experience one or more
of the symptoms listed below should immediately contact a physician.
· Fever
· Respiratory symptoms such as cough or runny nose
· Sore throat
· Possibly other symptoms such as
o Body aches
o Headache
o Chills
o Fatigue
o Vomiting or diarrhea (not typical for influenza but reported by some of the
recent cases of swine influenza infection)

Infomation from ECDC

EDIT :Swine Flu Outbreak: 'Pandemic Now Imminent'
The World Health Organisation raises the pandemic threat level from swine flu to five - the second highest level.
