ive hosted Headbangers Haven (my music forum) for coming up to 6 years on Invisionfree. ive had my forum reviewed on alot of forums including here, and ive had alot of people saying i should convert to Zetaboards. ive thought about this for a while, and im happy to stay on invision.
but what would be the advantages and disadvantages of switching? ive heard that once you switch but dont like it you cant change back :/
It might be good to make a zetaboards forum just to test out and then you can see what you prefer. Everyone has different opinions.
Zetaboards does have better security although personally i think IF looks a lot better then ZB forums but that is just my opinion... Alot of people think differently.
It might also be a good idea to ask you members and show them the demo of ZB forum and see how the like the look and feel. At the end of the day the main part of the forum is the members and without them you wouldn't have a forum so it would be best to see what they prefer.
Fowler's made some valid points there. Some of the main reasons i'd suggest you move on to ZB are the fact it apprently has better security (I havent noticed but i havent had to mind) also it of course is the newer model on Zathyus and well there is now more updates for it and easier and far better support imo.
I am just going to add on a little bit maybe it will help you decide to switch or not.
For a while I used zetaboards for a few sites and testing needs.
I also heard zetaboards is like the new invisionfree and a free version of IPB.(kind of like IPBfree is)
I come up with these pros and cons
Pros:
Alot of BBcodes by default one being a flash bbcode.
Great security
Great support
The ACP is very easy to use
Can switch from Invisionfree to zetaboards.
Cons:
The skins are still limited due to it being new and kind of hard to skin for.
Not as many mods as invisionfree. Ofcourse not to many are needed either lol.
Last time I checked you cannot add your own custom bbcodes :[.
So basically it is worth the switch. If you want a decent skin though in my opinion it is hard to find 🙁.
