I have this on my new forum and some like it and some don't ...
Your thoughts ??

Moved to a better forum. 😀

I personally like Tapatalk, and if they don't like it, they don't have to use it. 😛

I have and use tapatalk. Makes posting easier even if you can't be on the computer.
It saves some mobile data too as it loads things simplified.

I also like the the tabs to check the timeline, the unread posts and suscriptions. I sometimes even use it together with the desktop to find the threads/post I cared about responding and then use the computer to forge the proper long response or upload the attachment I wanted..

I don't like this new thing I see on forums with tapatalk (while I'm browsing with my mobile):

...you click into a random thread and it interrupts you and forces you to click "View on web" to proceed. You already had to close the blue tapatalk welcome screen and the bit that hovers over the forum, now they added a 3rd road block?

Browsing with your mobile can be challenging enough on its own at times. I don't need all these obstacles from tapatalk too. 😛

Really dislike Tapatalk. Way too much advertising, and I really dislike the "posting from iPhone with tapatalk" signature that gets displayed after every single post.

Integrating with tapatalk also could mean some plugins and additions you have for your forum won't work.

I prefer to have a mobile friendly version of my forum instead. I use a plugin to achieve that for MyBB.

I like Tapatalk, though I understand why some people don't.

I like it for the reason of not having to constantly change the templates for the mobile-friendly theme every time you install a plugin and such.

I read somewhere that tapatalk was sending out members unencrypted passwords recently. I'll see if I can dig up where I read that..

I don't use it. As my forum is on myBB I much prefer to use gomobile as there is no complicated or time consuming app download and is available straight from the browser

I've heard of it, but never tried it. I personally prefer mobile versions of forums which is good enough. I think most users browse using a computer, anyways. xD

Not a big fan of it. I don't think it's made any impact as I've been on some forums that have it and it didn't seem to help increase activity or members.

I agree the advertising full page banner after you already have the frame in the header is excessive.

i am concerned with people talking about Tapatalk being idionts handling sensitive info through your phone, not even encrypting it. However overall I;ve had positive results, at least 4 of my active users in my Spanish forum uses it and we gained a new member for Zelda Cavern through it.

That one is just the default. it is a tick away to not appear and even if you choose to keep it you can (or could) change it to whatever you wanted.

I really like tapatalk, but i'm still kind of new to all of this so I don't really have much to compare it to. I use simple machines forum and the mobile version was a little hard to navigate for most of my members because they all came from a completely differently formatted forum. tapatalk did glitch a lot and had problems loading but it hasn't happened in a while.. it also could've just been my phone 😛

Since then, that's been patched.
That's good to know.

I like some of the recent changes that seem to go back into what the software used to be like before it became free. I think the developers just need to make sure they don't take the control away from the site admin and users when they introduce changes and to have an opt-out button for new features.

I don't recommend Tapatalk to anyone.

You loose control over your members, and core features of your site are no longer accessible to them. Also, if you ever want to leave tapatalk, you loose all the members that came from tapatalk.

Not to mention tapatalk has a BIG history of a lot of exploits that they know about, but don't patch for a while. OR when they do patch it, they don't even inform the community of the exploit to let forum owners know to update and patch asap.

I've never actually used tapatalk personally. We did have the plugin on the old vBulletin A4 and people were non-stop complaining about Tapatalk being buggy while we had nothing to do with it's issues. lol. We had resorted to telling people to complain directly to Tapatalk. Our programmers hated it. XD.

For those who do use it, is the experience any better than using the forum's individual UI.X ?

UI*

From my experience, it honestly depends on the forum itself and if they have a fully functional mobile responsive site or not.
Of course forums who still have yet to update to the 2000 standards let alone 2010 standards, their forums would be best to use some form of app to access the site via mobile.

Any site such as FP that has a fully functioning website on mobile, I would not recommend. Tapatalk you loose a lot of the forums core features that come in the website version.
