In our country, it's a common practice for teachers in elementary and high school to wear uniforms while college professors don't have to. I believe it's acceptable to forego uniforms as long as they dress appropriately and presentably.
I don’t think uniforms are necessary for teachers, it’s not like it affects the level of education/teaching they will provide. So long as it is smart and appropriate then it should be fine surely?
At my university and even in high school and middle school, the problem wasn't the look, but rather some teaches cussed. I don't know how they got away it. I mean, how we can point fingers at Trump, when they're are so many professors across our land just as rude? Think about it.
The teachers at my school wore a mortarboard and gown. The majority were also sadists who took real pleasure in beating the living daylights out of children with canes. I'm not sure if the two were connected but I still get the urge to go medieval on anyone wearing similar attire.
My sisters had a similar experience at a Catholic school where the nuns had a tendency to administrate physiological terror and physical punishment simply because they could.
I can tell you categorically that uniforms and sadism do everlasting harm so it's a huge no to teachers in uniform from me.
