Description: This is a new forum (launched February 5th) that aims to be a place for technology lovers to hang out. The site loads quickly, is 100% ad-free, and is very simple (and easy on the eyes). It's designed to be a place where people will want to hang out. The atmosphere is very laid back (with minimal regulations).

It's a wonderful place to be. I'm launching this with 4 years of forum administration experience and I think everyone will love this. (It's much more laid-back than TechGeeks. TechGeeks is a professional technical discussion and support community with strict moderation, where this is just a fun place to hang out).

I understand you are going for a simplistic design, but you should really get a custom theme. The default MyBB may put off some users.

TechGeeks is still here 🙂. I had disabled the signature for the first post because both forums are so closely related :lol:

I just want this to be a bit more relaxed. For example, TechGeeks requires 30 posts before a person is allowed to post links. This only requires 5. I think the two forums could go in very different directions if I don't link them, and I think that's a good thing. It gives me access to two very different audiences. (Even though I'm planning on keeping this ad-free for a very long time.)

But it looks good with the custom logo 🙂 and it loads fast. I don't want to bloat the site. The most important thing should be the discussion.

Right now the site is loading in about 3 seconds. TechGeeks takes 6 with all it's "prettiness". I think I like this 🙂

I see your point, but there are some simplistic themes out there.

Also the logo seems a bit strange, don't you think that "Tech" should be blue to match the theme?

It's our second day and we already have 50 posts 🙂 It's not a lot but they're a lot more interesting than the posts on some other startup forums. We don't have counting games or introductions or any of that boring stuff. Just interesting discussions!

Check out the thread "Why did you start your site?" and read some myBB vs IP.Board vs. vBulletin. Then read a bit about advertising and spammers.

Like I said, the post count is low but the discussions are great! 😎

We need the community's help to continue growing! At least so we can build up some interesting discussions so we can start getting visitors from Google to register.

The startup is the most difficult period and I would appreciate anyone who wants to help 🙂 If you think this forum could be great because of what it's set around, register or at least give some tips for it here at this thread 🙂

Adding a new theme doesn't slow your forum down if it's a simple design. There are a lot of clean looking designs other than the default one, you should consider looking into getting one of them.

I'd be too tempted to get something pretty with larger small images and a nice background and pretty header and all that.
