Description:
Techy Boards is an idea I had in February this year for a forum, this idea today has now become a website/blog/forum. We have only just started so are forums aren't that busy or packed and google SEO isn't where we want it yet but we will be buying a .com domain to help. We have also teamed up with a new YouTube group called iVidCast who will also help advertise the site and provide some content. The aim of Techy Boards is to provide a cool, relaxed community site for discussing or reading the latest news in gaming or technology! We are working on new ideas everyday but at this point our site can't progress without members so I hope you come by and check out the site! We will be launching a Techy Boards GameHub very soon as well which will provide even more to our community!
Wow. Like your site. Nice and clean layout and design. Are those your fav games or you are selected of what games you post on their. Anyway, keep up it up.
Thanks I don't own either theme, both are free themes, logo was made by a member too, I'm not good at graphic design. Also I just post articles and info on games that I find, can't cover everything due to school and other things but I try to cover big games. I post more stuff on games I'm following though, hopefully when we get members, we can get a team of article writers so the site will cover more.
I have decided to put up 1 ad on the main site and the forums, on the main site, it's a 125x125 one in the sidebar, on the forum it's a banner ad in the header, still under review but it will mean I can get money for domains, hosting etc. I want a .com domain ASAP but with Christmas just around the corner my parents don't want to be spending even 12 euro on a domain. The hosting is already paid hosting but it's a basic package but there is no guarantee I will be able to have the same package next year so another reason to put 2 ads on the site. I would never use free web hosting, I've already tried x10hosting and it was rubbish compared to the paid stuff, plus the support on my current host is very good compared to the x10hosting support.
After not being able to do anything with the site due to tons of work and other things, finally now have the time to come back to it and continue where I left off.
Tons of reviews coming soon over the week! Won't be on it as much as I would like to be until June but after June I'll have no Junior Cert to worry about!
Google don't seem to be ranking it very highly still, I'll give it time, it's finally just about go onto the first page when googling techyboards but not techy boards. Adsense is now fully set-up, the ads are there just to try and help cover the cost of servers, no way would I be making a profit 😛, only going with 2 ads on main site and 1 on forum as I don't want the guests to be put off.
I'll be giving the forum some more attention and work is under way again on an upcoming big feature that will require the community to build!
With my mock junior certs coming up I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to the site but I'm still working on some big ideas. Our YouTube channel (iVidCast) will also be getting started very soon now that we have the right equipment and some people to do the filming. Again it would be nice for anyone to come talk on the forums as it's need some members to chat with each other, I'm talking to myself most the time on it at the moment, traffic as been increasing slowly though! We are also trying to keep a stream of content going on the main site.
Did some work on updating things today, spent most of today in hospital so couldn't do everything I wanted to do today on the site. Some slow increases in traffic now too which is a good thing to see.
Had a lot of mysql issues and stuff with the site, hopefully that's all over with now. Also had my mock Junior Certs in February so had to concentrate on them, have some time now though for the next few months to focus on the site. After June though the site will be making a lot of progress and a lot of content will be published on a regular basis.
Exams pretty much over now, just got one on Monday morning then I've got a year and a half really of a break from study and homework meaning lots of work to be done on techy boards!
On our twitter we will be giving away a Playstation Plus 1 month membership for people in the UK only though I'm afraid to say.
