1. What made you decide to create your own forum?
I love music, and my passion for it made me create Music-Junkies.

2. How did you come up with the name for your forum?
Lots of brainstorming with my then co-owner.

3. How did you decide the subject matter of your forum?
Just saw that there weren't too many active music forums.

4. How do try to get new members to join?
Advertised to my friends and on FP

5. How did you pick your current staff members?
One is a friend in real life, the other a good friend offline.

6. How did you choose what software to use for your forum?
I'll always stick with phpBB no matter what.

7. Has your forum ever been hacked?
Never.

8. Have you ever felt like giving up and closing your forum?
Many times. It comes with the territory.

1. What made you decide to create your own forum?

I created Chatting Time because I was tired of joining all these forums with overly strict rules, power hungry staff, and I just wanted a place that I could call my own basically.

2. How did you come up with the name for your forum?

I think the name was out of pure randomness. I knew what genera of forum I wanted to do, but I was stuck on a name so I just used Chatting Time as that was the first name that popped into my head.

3. How did you decide the subject matter of your forum?

Simply because I like general discussion forums as you can litterally talk about anything.

4. How do try to get new members to join?

I try to join up with various promotion forums. I also have a Facebook page dedicated to the forum and I promote on Twitter. I've also submitted to search engines, directories and topsites.

5. How did you pick your current staff members?

My co administrator offered me hosting on his host, also to help me with installing mods and themes as well. I've also worked with him once before about a year ago, so he's definetly trustworthy.

6. How did you choose what software to use for your forum?

I chose PHPBB for a number of reasons, but the main reason was that I don't have money for anything like Vbulletin or Xenforo, and I also wanted to stick with something I knew, and I also love PHPBB's layout, compared to other softwares, so that's why I stick with PHPBB.

7. Has your forum ever been hacked?

Yes, when my forum was with another host back in January, we were actually hacked twice. Once in January and another time in March. That's actually what made me give up for a while before trying again almost three months ago.

8. Have you ever felt like giving up and closing your forum?

Numerous times. But I keep trying as it's been my dream for the last two and a half years to come out with a successful forum. So far it's going great this time around!

2. How did you come up with the name for your forum? A: I wanted it to be a complete coin forum.

4. How do try to get new members to join? A: PMing on other forums. Quickly found out the hard way that it is spamming and you can be banned for it.

5. How did you pick your current staff members? A: My first mod was a really good contributor, and my second asked for a position and I gave it to him as I trusted him and knew him from another forum.

A: GOOOOOD QUESTION! I DIDN'T! I jumped into a hosting service and found out much later when I had members that it was terribly spam-prone, so I ended up moving it.

8. Have you ever felt like giving up and closing your forum? A: No I'm real happy with it.

1. What made you decide to create your own forum?

Well I started out with a gaming forum about 2 years ago. I was looking for somewhere to promote it and get visitors, so I came to FP. Since then I have had a few forums that have come and gone, but I am quite certain I have found the forum that I am going to stick with. I get fulfillment and revenue from my current forum.

2. How did you come up with the name for your forum?

Well I wanted a name that basically meant that my forum was a resource forum for admins to come and take whatever knowledge or downloads (Group Ranks, Themes, Plugins, etc) and boost their forum with it. Thus, Forum Boost was born!

3. How did you decide the subject matter of your forum?

I have been around forums for quite some time. I have always enjoyed the support side of things. I like solving people's problems. In the forum world, I believe there is a big demand for that.

4. How do try to get new members to join?

I promote just about everywhere that I can. I also make sure my site is SEO optimized so that Google can do some of the work and I can do some of the work. :great:

5. How did you pick your current staff members?

I knew them from back in the day on FP, so for me it was pretty much a no brainer. I do have one staff member that I didn't know, but he proved to be an excellent member so I offered him a position and he accepted.

6. How did you choose what software to use for your forum?

MyBB has always been my favorite software. It is very easy to use and has one of the best support forums around. I felt right at home with this software.

7. Has your forum ever been hacked?

Nope, I have had attempts in the past on other forums I have owned, but no one has ripped me yet.

8. Have you ever felt like giving up and closing your forum?

I will never close this forum. I am having way too much fun with it. :lol: :cheer:

Anyway here is my answers:

1. What made you decide to create your own forum?
This forum I created to reunite with old friends and allow people from my previous communities to come back together.

2. How did you come up with the name for your forum?
Randomness.. Just a word that popped into my head.

3. How did you decide the subject matter of your forum?
Because I like discussion forums.

4. How do try to get new members to join?
Advertising on promotion forums, search engines, directories, people clicking my signature on other forums, word of mouth

5. How did you pick your current staff members?
They stood out as people who had staff potential.

6. How did you choose what software to use for your forum?
This is the 3rd software this forum has been on. We started on phpbb3 then I got some Christmas money so I bought a fancy new vB license. Then I converted to IPB because it is a stable and solid software run by a more reputable group of people.

7. Has your forum ever been hacked?
Yes. One time a long time ago was by someone getting access to my account. Recently it was because of vulnerabilities in the vB software I was using.

8. Have you ever felt like giving up and closing your forum?
I had 2 forums in the past that I closed because I was going through financial problems. However I got a 2nd job and money problems kind of stabled out somewhat so I could afford a couple of the extras in life that I had to get rid of (internet access and a forum being two of those).

Advertising Mania

1. What made you decide to create your own forum?
Back then right before the promotion forum flurry I thought that a unique promotion forum should be made so I made one and followed me did a flurry of forum owners creating promotion forums and mine managed to scrape activity and pretty much became rivals with Advertise Hotspot as we were neck and neck on activity for a long while until....(Find out further down)(No not because AH was hacked because my forum closed)

2. How did you come up with the name for your forum?
I joined a site called Graphics Mania and I thought Advertising Mania sounded awesome so I made it.

3. How did you decide the subject matter of your forum?
I'd always wanted a promotion forum.

4. How do try to get new members to join?
Free services month, better than free services week. Also we were unique and still are really for a promotion forum.

5. How did you pick your current staff members?
Many of the originals left but some stayed like cooltwig but I hired others by skills they had.

6. How did you choose what software to use for your forum?
Well we were created on forumotion so obviously phpbb2

7. Has your forum ever been hacked?
No. But after places like Advertise Hotspot and others going down we thought it was time to make a runner from forumotion. It's also time for me to change my password on AM 😛

8. Have you ever felt like giving up and closing your forum?
I have closed my forum. Twice. First time it was because I went away for a week came back disaster! An admin had pretty much deleted himself of the internet including our homepage meaning it was hard to get to the forum its self and the co owner just did nothing and when I came back activity had gone so I closed it. But then I reopened and it failed as well as wanting to move out of the promotion genre. I gave it away to a online friend who left it to rot so I took it back and now we've closed again but that's only because we are moving away from forumotion. When we reopen we'll be the best,most stylish, most unique advertising forum ever!
