Template and Background feedback

So ive been getting alot of criticism for my blend background colours. I chose a light shade of grey along with light blue just to give it a relaxing feel. I get the feeling this hasn't worked and might not work however no one thing fits all.

Could I get some suggestions on how to improve the look and feel of the forum. Plus any other feedback would be great.

I'd suggest staying away from that shade of blue, it just looks too much like the default for me. The 2013 banner only takes up a small corner of the space it could, I'd suggest making a wider banner to fill up the space, or perhaps centering it. Or you could add something to the right half of it to fill up the space with something. Most recent posts, an ad service, forum news or something like that would look great there.

thanks for your help. Ive changed the banner into a more detailed look and i like it. ill be using it for when i buy ad space. im not too sure on how to change the blue as i was looking for ages last night. do you have mybb? do u know how to change that bit?
