Text-To-Topic MOD

Well this past month I have been working with one of my favorite teachers at school on a mod that allows you to make a post by text.

Basicly, as the text subject you add the Subject of the Topic. As the words, just text them, send them to our number, and it is redirected to my server and translated into a post.

Bugs we are working on are:

• Making a post
• Choosing the Forum ID
• Speed Issues
• The right USER ID

This is a free text, unless your carrier charges otherwise. The forum id may be fixed by having different numbers for different forums.

Wow, awesome. But, some cellphones are different than others. How will you make this compatible for all cells?

Nah, it is a good question. Our program will decypher any Mobile Phone's code and waves. It was expensive but worth it. Anyone with a cell phone that does not use proper area coding (TrakPhones, Disposeable phones, ect.) may not be picked up right.

Will you have a seperate forum for text msgs or how does that whole thing work?

No, no. Just working with my current forums.

I will however create a whole new board to test it.

This is a great idea, that not only needs to be applied to posting on forums, but for other uses as well, what they maybe I have no clue right now but I am sure when it's all said and done, you will figure out bigger uses for it lol.

Good idea, and won't mind seeing it be used down the road in something more.

Not saying it's nothing by no means, but with this idea something great could come out of it.

I fixed some bugs, but when you go over a mountain, you see the rest you must climb.

When your register on the board, it requires you to enter a phone number, if you wish to use the TTT mod with the check box.

The problem now is for email activation, it wont pick up activated or deactivated users.

The board is not live yet

Around the end of February.

I am working right now on how to make it auto update and to see if it will work with board updates. As some updates change the forum functions massivly.

Speed issues is fixed. It is near instantaneous.

You put in your Cell number upon registration. You text with the forum name you want, and inside the message place what you want to be in the topic.

Now we are working on Text-To-PM as well, respond to PMs by text messages and get them right in your SMS inbox

I'm not totally sure whether registering with your phone number is a great idea though. I know I'd be a little uncomfortable if I tried to register and was asked for my phone number. :S

You'd also need to make sure it was really secure, so that hackers or spammers don't get a hold of people's phone numbers.

But I suppose if it was optional, then that would be ideal.
