Hey there Forum Promotion! Here is a guide for the 7 essentials to a successful blog. If this becomes a big hit, I will try and make more guides and things like this and maybe even start my own blog for you guys.
1. Write from the heart. I mean sure, you can write very interesting posts without putting yourself into it. You could take a popular topic, and write about it just to have some popular posts on your blog and that will get your blog's name out there. It can be done, but I would not recommend it. The best blogs come from the heart. They are written with authenticity and soul, they are personal.
2. Be useful. It's possible to create a successful blog without being useful, but its rarely done. Most of the popular blogs are useful in one way or another.
3. Keep your audience in mind. This goes with being useful. It is important to know your audience. You should know; who are your readers? What is your target audience? And how well do you know them?. If you don't know your audience, try and get to know them by asking them what they want to hear from you. Ask them maybe what topics they would like to see on your blog. Look at other blogs to get an idea of how to attact the audience that you want to have.
4. Don’t just write about yourself. This is what I see happen alot of times. I mean it is always good to put a piece of yourself in every post, but your blog should not be just strictly about you. If you want people coming back, write about useful subjects. I have seen alot of personal journals but to be honest, alot of people are not interested about what you did for your 18th birthday. You’re writing for an audience. Make it about them, and you, in a shared conversation. Incorporate their questions, their stories. Share what you’ve learned, but also share what they’ve learned.
5. Interact with readers. A blog is basically a conversation. It starts with your post, and then it continues with comments from readers, and with those comments comes critisim from other bloggers. Get the conversation stirred up by posting questions, polls, and maybe a few contests. This will get your readers deeply involved in your blog.
6. Give them a reason to come back. Why should that reader come back to your blog? Why should they subscribe to get emails when there are so many other blogs? You have to give them a reason. That reason should be that they can see that you are really dedicated in the blog and want to give them amazing content that you know they will enjoy. You have to make it so that they won't want to miss out.
7. Write catchy titles. Headlines are one of the most important part of the post. Think about it, what is the first thing you see when you go to read a blog? Thats right, the title. If they are not very good, no one will read the posts. It could be the most amazing content, but if the title sucks, you've got nothing. Most people will not read the content unless it has a good title that pulls them in and makes them want to know whats going on.
This did take a while to write so if you think I really deserve it, please rep me.
