Someone should ask them why they ban people with admin/webmaster and promotion forums even if that forum has only 1 posts.

Exactly. It's just like Kaiser and ShadyX have both rightly said: Some of these new promotion sites that are coming out are pretty much nothing compared to TAZ. Sure they might look nice, but really, there almost is no contest for some of these newer forums. So banning a forum that barely has any posts on it compared to TAZ is just downright strict or pathetic.

Rules that are that stupid as the ones TAZ has, or I've been hearing they have, are just MEANT to be broken. :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake:

If FP has that policy, I WOULDN'T be here. Yeah, I'm not promoting another forum promoting rival, but I hate big strictatarians all the same. Especially when it's pointless like that. Not promoting a porn site or an adult site is one thing. Banning people who help out at rival forums merely for helping out, never mind that they don't own that forum, is just STUPID! 68.gif

Anyway, if they're(TAZ) that worried about the site that's being advertised, by only one person there no less, then their site must really SUCK anyway.

Just my take. 😉 😉

I gotta say, I agree. By the way, Forum Promotion has no such rule (thank God) about advertising rival sites. They do seem to be strict on who can help out there and who can't.

I've been on TAZ for many years and never had the issue of getting banned over a competitor site. Then again it wasn't 100% competitor (they warned me and blocked the URL). Then when I regained the domain I asked for it to be unbanned and they did so they're not all that bad.

Hey guys,

After a real bad experience there with a staff member I went looking for a new place to hang out and this topic popped up in the search.

It is too bad because I actually liked it there, enough to buy a premium membership. I liked the rest of the staff and I liked the members too. I was well liked in return and the majority of my karma points actually came from staff members.

It is true that activity there is slowing down, and more importantly members who used to contribute a lot of quality content have moved on. I spent some time here browsing before signing up and I see many of them have migrated over here. I am quite sure there will be many more too.

I imagine it must be just coincidence but what happened to me happened two days ago and the place noticeably died down since.....or maybe it's not coincidence. Some of the best active members there emailed me after it happened thoroughly disgusted with how I was treated and I see some of them are here now.

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. I was spending to much time there instead of developing my websites any ways lol And I have a feeling I will like it better here too.

There are lots of sites out there that you can join that do not ban or warn just because you own a webmaster forum. :great:

Actually I don't have a webmaster forum. The problem began when I recommended my favourite software in a topic. It is not one of the big three that so loved there.

It turned into a debate about weather or not it is any good. This staff member was leading the debate and relentlessly perused it. I answered every post respectfully all things considered and as much as possible linked to third party/neutral information about.

About 7 pages into the discussion it suddenly was strategically split into two topics....I should have walked away from it right there, actually even sooner but too late now. It went on for several more pages, then was locked, edited and some posts removed. I could not believe it. Of all the years I have attended forums I have never seen a staff abuse their power to manipulate a conversation.

I wasn't banned but did get an infraction, all premium member privileges revoked and my posts put into moderation.

That is very pathetic on their part if you ask me. I dislike TAZ quite alot.

I know. It sucks when a forum that you actually liked goes from seriously active to practically dead. It's also not fair when some of the best posters leave either, and what I mean is these are people who come out with good posts (such as yourself from the looks of things) and their posts contain a lot of meaning and insight about a subject at hand. But then, when some of those best posters leave, the place can and sometimes does die down in a heartbeat because there's no one there to provide decent content anymore.

Now that is way below the belt. Handing out an infraction for letting a topic go on too long? Talk about power hungry! If you guys had seriously gone off topic, then I can imagine posts being merged/locked, a new topic being created, etc, but to dish out severe punishment for something that would only entail a friendly warning otherwise is going too far.

Is to bad for sure Ashley, I did enjoy the place and liked the rest of the people. But after that happening I can't see me ever contributing there again.

The reason given for the infraction, "Baiting-Inciting-Trolling" ....WOW.

At first it really got under my skin bad which is out of the ordinary for me, I have really thick skin. But then I got supportive emails from some of the best quality contributing members and read through the topic with my wife to get her thoughts, which carry a lot of weight with me, she is a very smart woman that works in mental health.

She was blown away by staff members behaviour but just laughed and said not to worry about it at all. After the topic was messed with some of my posts could easily be taken way out of context. But not by anyone who reads the whole topic through, or even skims through. It is obvious what happened and I conducted myself well all things considered.

I have mental health problems myself, ADD and MR (now known by law as Intellectual Disability) but even I know a good or crappy thing when I see it. Sure, it might take a while to figure out that things aren't going as smoothly as it shohuld, but I do manage to fit the puzzle pieces into the equation in the end, and I eventually end up thinking, "wow, there's a lot more garbage going on here than I originally thought!" Unfortunately, Brian, I have the exact opposite with letting things get to me, I'm on anxiety meds now and this has cut down on the escapades durastically, but all the same, once I get upset over something, it can be bad enough to where I end up just shutting off the computer and letting everyone have a chance to calm down and let things restore to normal.

I know what trolling is, but what are baiting and inciting?

That deal about letting a topic go on forever really gets to me. I can only see that being against the rules like if it's a new forum software that came out a year or two ago and the link to the demo either no longer works, or they've come out with an official release. Also, on my forum, with the exception of the new software bit (once it comes out after being in Beta stages or there's a stable release, then we'll probably lock and trash it) we are not worried about necro posting at all. Heck, if you check out my forum, especially the general chat thread which was started around the same weekend Chatting Time opened, we have quite a few pages going on that topic already. I for one am not fussy about bumping old topics. As long as a person has something relavent to say on the subject, they're more than welcome to bump it up.

I have just been banned their. I was a member for 6 months. Apprently speaking your mind is the un written rules.

TAZ and Digital point have similar rules, both are hailed as nazi-ish forums. We are once again allowed to advertise forumz there again as we are now mainly a car/truck forum 🙂

Actually, from what I've heard, Digital Point is much more relaxed and is definitely not a nazi-ish forum compared to The Admin Zone. TAZ is still very small in terms of forums and they can't afford to be cutting loose good members, unlike DP.

From what ive heard and read, DP is definetly not relaxed. Also, if you look through their rules, they give permabans and infractions/warnings for ridiculous reasons.

It's relaxed compared to TAZ, believe me. I'm a member at DP and I've been banned for getting too many infractions, but still, from what people tell me about things they get warnings for at TAZ, I'd rather just stick with DP. DP need to give infractions every day because of the sheer size of the forum, so sometimes things can go wrong. 🙂

Oh yeah, TAZ is like a prison, and DP is like a youth rehabilitation centre. If that makes sense 😛

Here is an interesting blog post from a former admin there.

Ashley I believe baiting and inciting basically means instigating and setting people up to fail....which I don't believe I did. The original topic it started in was 100% on topic all the way and not one of my posts were unsolicited. They were all replies to people and respectful....although admittedly near the end a few had a touch sarcasm, I was getting frustrated. The same points were trying to be made over and over again but just with different wording. The topic finally got strategically dissected and split (about 7 pages into it) when the staff member finally got frustrated and had nothing left to say.

Then it went on for a little while longer in the new topic with some actually good conversation, that staff member had left the conversation. Not everyone agreed but the conversation was good and respectful from all sides. Then that staff member joined back in and it went back down hill fast until finally that person got frustrated again, closed the topic, deleted several posts and gave me an infraction for it.

The software that was being discussed has been around since 2004. It has been, until recent not really well known though. They don't advertise (that I am aware of) or talk themselves up at all. They have just been quietly doing their thing and waiting for others to see what they are up to and spread the word. I think that is going to serve them very well. 1000 good words you say about yourself is worth far less than one good word about you spoken by someone else. Word is spreading fast recently and I think they will soon become a very popular commonly spoken name.

Is this anymore then a QQing thread?

Anyway, I've got to say that i'm a little taken back by all the thoughts on there rules. I'm of the opinion that as a forum owner I wouldn't want another forum that might be either a bigger, better or even worse then my forum on it. Quite simply I know it's going to be talked about between members, but honestly.. do you go into McDonalds and say how awsome KFC is? Or even Eat KFC in McDonalds?

Plus TBH your all (mostly) forum owners. You should know that there are rules that some people won't agree with or even like, but that's there forums.

PS: Yes I am a Reviewer over there and from what I hear me and my kind are not welcome 🙁 sad times.
