Not at all Hair. I am new here but from what I have seen so far I do not see any reason at all why you would not be welcomed 🙂 Happy to see you.

I have no problem with the rules there. It is their site so they are free to make their own rules.

The only problem I had is with one staff member abusing staff power to manipulate a conversation. That is not cool at all and badly tarnished TAZ's rep for most who watched it go down.

It is really to bad one bad apple had to spoil the whole bunch for me because the whole group is certainly not that way. But TAZ is loosing good members from bad moderation not doubt. If you do a quick Google search there are actually many threads on different sites like this. You don't even have to be looking for them, just Google "The admin zone" and you will find some right at the top. If I remember right that is how I found this, just searching for a new admin type forum to visit.

I don't really want to get into to deep or lengthy of conversation about it. I just shared my experience. And I don't feel bad about sharing it ether. From what I have seen, I am certainly not alone and the vast majority of people who have had problems there....TAZ lost out, good people. I had a look at how they post on other forums (not just this one), good contributors of quality content.<br /><br />-- 16 Jul 2011, 15:50 --<br /><br />And a further thought....If you ate at MacDonalds and got food poisoning, the next time you were eating at KFC with your friends would you share the experience with them? The way I see it is that like Hair said, there will always be rules people don't agree with. The admins/moderator point of view and the members quite often vary. When it comes to rules regarding promoting rival forums, you need to be careful. All admins want their forum to be successful and an obvious way to keep people in your site is to try to stop then wondering off to similar sites. An effective way is to stop rival forums being promoted. This does however annoy people and doesn't give the forum a good reputation. Word of mouth and reputation is important. If you have a good meal at a restaurant, you probably won't tell many people but if you have a bad meal, you will tell alot more people. They will then tell other people and so on. Quite often you hear people say the words "I have heard...". That is why you should minimize the negative publicity as much as possible and why you need to be careful about your rules you have in place and how you enforce them.

As an admin, you may not like something happening but sometimes you have to grit your teeth and bare it. You may not like rival forums being promoted or members finding similar forums and being more active there but is it worth creating trouble and possibly ruining the reputation of the forum in the process? In my opinion, No!. I can see why TAZ do it but it makes me wonder that if they allow rival forums to be promoted, would they be more successful then they are now? I am almost certain they would have a better reputation anyway.

Sometimes on forums you may not like a certain member but the right thing to do is let them stay and treat them fairly unless you have a good enough and fair reason to ban them. Equally sometimes there may be a member you like but breaks a lot of rules and you need to ban to be consistent. You may not like trying to be fair and making those decisions but sometimes you have to do things you don't like and let people stay you may not like. You can't always have everything your own way and exactly how you like it. Stopping similar forums being promoted is, in my opinion, 1 step to far and you may solve one problem but then you can create many other problems which can be more damaging.

Anyway, I've got to say that i'm a little taken back by all the thoughts on there rules. I'm of the opinion that as a forum owner I wouldn't want another forum that might be either a bigger, better or even worse then my forum on it. Quite simply I know it's going to be talked about between members, but honestly.. do you go into McDonalds and say how awsome KFC is? Or even Eat KFC in McDonalds?

Plus TBH your all (mostly) forum owners. You should know that there are rules that some people won't agree with or even like, but that's there forums.

PS: Yes I am a Reviewer over there and from what I hear me and my kind are not welcome 🙁 sad times.

Everyone is welcome at FP, that is the whole point. TAZ's rules are too strict full stop.

Also, I doubt macdonalds would really care as they are already famous.

Now besides Hair being on staff on TAZ as well, I agree with him. I would hardly believe that Pizza Hut would allow good old Papa John to promote inside of their stores. By disallowing discussion of competitors, TAZ is able to keep its members, and also protect the good reputations of other forums. We don't have bashing of our competitors on TAZ. And like it or not, several of these members are indeed lying and slandering TAZ.

To the user, Paine, please do share what your message was that got you banned exactly? Not as sweet and innocent as he'd like for y'all to think.

And we simply do not ban users for just owning an admin forum, it's when we have repeatedly warned them in the past that we do not allow their promotion. May not seem fair to some, but they are the rules, and by signing up you agree to respect them.

That warning is ridiculous but you guys are clearly just signing up to post in this thread. Now, jeremy, I for one know that not all the staff there are bad, its just that the way TAZ is run makes people prefer it here.

Pizza Hut Is actually part of Yum Intertaional that own Pizza Hut, Kentuky Friend Chicken, Red Lobster, Taco Bell and guess who? That's right! Paupa Johns.

Errrm, Hold on.

I had never been warned about promoting my forum on TAZ, I had been a member on there for a good few years and the only warning I ever got was for selling my sig space on DP.

So yes, I had been banned for just owning an admin forum.

I went to log on to my account on TAZ and I was redirected to your discouragement script that directs people who you don't like to a blank page making the forum in-accessible. Cleared my cookies and cache and I knew straight away what it was as my forum has a similar feature. So I made a new account for the sole purpose of contacting staff to try and resolve the problem and ask why I had been treated this way, to no surprise you guys did the same thing to me again without even replying to me.

Anyways, I am sooo glad you guys banned me because it just give me more time to post on Better forums such as Forum Promotion who don't ban every tom dick and harry.

I have also heard by a former staff member that you don't even allow staff members to post on other admin forums, take part or be part of any other admin related communities.

I really did enjoy the discussions on TAZ, but sadly the forum is full of banhappy staff who don't even need a reason nor do they give one.

I wish you luck with it, I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.

Actually I signed up a while back, I just haven't posted until now. I've know about this place since it was a youngin. 😛

And yeah, we've had some staff that I didn't really agree with. I respect their decisions though.

Really I would just like for people to post honest stories and experiences here though.

It doesn't sound like something we would give, certainly not something I have seen any other staff member give anyone else so that was why I was wondering who it was. If she wishes to post here or contact us (through the contact page) then we can look into it if it happened.

I don't wish to cause trouble and I have stated a couple of times in this topic for users to not cause trouble over on TAZ. Seeing something like that and no way to confirm it is slightly annoying though as I am sure you would understand.

I do not recall any other warnings apart from selling my sig space on Digitalpoint, even if I had a previous warning for avoiding the word censor how is that anything to do with promoting my forum...

No explanation, no ban message, email.. nothing. Just a white screen.. I tried to find out why but again you used the discouragement switch to blank me :shrug:

Im sorry but IMO the way the staff team on TAZ operate is not very user friendly and this whole thread of angry, distressed members is proof that you guys really need to review your moderation policy's and do something about it before you are all left in an empty forum with no members.

I really did used to like TAZ, I spent my beginning days as a webmaster there and it helped me get to where I am now but the way your staff handle things is shocking... it really is.

I hope you guys can do something about these issues before it is too late.

I have cleaned this thread up a bit by removing some posts that blatantly badmouthed TAZ. You are all welcome to state your opinions, but blatantly badmouthing another forum isn't acceptable. Any further posts that badmouth TAZ ("badmouth" means "state something in a completely uncivil way") will most likely be deleted. If this topic can't get better, then it may be removed completely.

Quite frankly I find that very difficult to believe. If you have evidence of what you claim, please PM it to me and I will be happy to update this topic with it. We are very open and welcoming here at FP and we don't tell people they are not welcome here, simply because they are staff members on other forums.

Please do send me that PM BrickMaster, I hope you didn't make an accusation like that without having the evidence to back it up.
