Some Amish are questioning their religion, since some of them have discovered their rules are not directly from the Bible or from it at all. Anyway, though, despite the eerie situation of threatening eternal damnation for any slip-up on rules, I think that's the situation, it's undeniable it keeps them morally upright, but maybe self-righteous.

Note: A big problem is that the BIble they follow is written in an archaic form of German, so now many are reading English bibles.

They do have a good work ethic like it was told to them. They do accept outsiders. They do allow members other than the Amish to drive them places. Also, they have plenty of good businesses being very helpful to just modern folk, and they really have it harder than the rest of us and never complain. I respect that. There can be cases where other variations of a similar faith can seem ungodly, but it would be such a darn shame if it was all done for nothing.

I do agree that they are very hard workers and are respectable. There are lot of them in Missouri where I live. I've always felt that the Amish weren't with the times. It really wouldn't kill them to acclimate with society because it would benefit them. I think it's more of a case of the Amish being overly superstitious along with an unwillingness to change and to adapt. They live like 9th century Luddites who have terrible hygiene.
