Pros:
- Your skin is awesome. It is perfect for your forum. The images are high, quality, and look exactly like the Apple interface. The skin is clean, professional, etc. I wouldn’t change it at all. The same goes for your logo. It all looks great.
- Even though your forum is a Forums-Free hosted type thing, you got a Top-Level-Domain. That’s a lot easier for people to remember than a subdomain address. Eventually, a .com wouldn’t be a bad investment.
- Your forum’s name isn’t cheesy or hard to remember. The Apple Forum – that name is simple and effective. That’s what people want.
Cons:
- I don’t know if your host supports custom favicons, but that would be a good thing to check in to. You’ve got some odd foreign symbols as your favicon right now. That might throw people off when looking at their favorites.
- You could definitely use a proofread of some of your content. Just a few things for examples:
“If you are new to The Apple Forum then why not post an introduction thread on what devices you have Etc.” should be, “If you are new to The Apple Forum, then why not post an introduction thread on what devices you have, etc.?”
“Do you need help or have a idea which will help or improve the forum? Then why not post in here for either help or advice.” should be, “Do you need help, or have an idea which will help or improve the forum? Then why not post in here for either help or advice?”
“Hello There and welcome to The Apple Forum!! My name is Lewis and i own this site. I would like to thank you for visiting us and hope that you stay and enjoy TAF for a very long time! We will be the first people to get the news from Apple HQ to you. Also we have many forums for simplicity.” should be, “Hello there, and welcome to The Apple Forum! My name is Lewis, and I own this site. I would like to thank you for visiting us, and hope that you stay, and enjoy, TAF for a very long time! We will be the first people to get the news from Apple HQ to you. Also, we have many forums for simplicity.”
- More forums are NOT simpler! You want fewer forums. For example, why do you have specific forums for each of the new devices just announced? That could be kept to one sticky/thread in the respective device’s forum. Also, why in the world do you have forums for firmware 4.01 and firmware 4.02 when they are both completely minor bugfix releases? You have way too many forums, and should really cut down on those.
- You can’t link to anything on your forum. Your URL is always the same. That’s a shame for people wanting to share the news and content from your forum.
