I just came home from the supermarket and I feel different because the supermarket I went to was in the suburb where the plastic grocery bag is not banned. How convenient to shop when the supermarket provides you with free plastic bags. Cities in the metro have banned such plastic grocery bags for reasons of improper disposal. Those plastic bags thrown anywhere would clog the sewage can cause flood. I don't see the logic in that banning because the convenience of the plastic bag is wasted just because the government couldn't discipline the people who litter the place with plastic bags.

While they haven't banned them here, they do charge you $0.05 per plastic grocery bag now. We ourselves never use them anymore as we've purchased those large reusable type grocery bags with the zipping 'lids', and they last forever!

It's happening around the world. in the UK you have to pay for bags and they are being re-used again

I agree with it because plastic takes forever to degrade and is just polluting everywhere. I wish more countries did it.

I think it should be given out at a higher price. You cant expect everyone to walk into a supermarket with a carry bag every day.

I don't really know what to think of this because it could be good and bad but personally I remember to bring my own.

They've done it at my local stores too. Now you have to pay 10 cents for each plastic bag. The bags are thicker and can be used up to 125 times (according to the sentence printed on the bag).

Most places charge 5 cents for a bag here. I usually just pay the 5 cents, it's not a lot of money and I'd rather just pay it over bringing my own bags everywhere.

There are a lot of problem associated with plastic bags, which is why bans or fees are in place in many countries. The main driver behind bag bans is to lower how much plastic finds its way into the marine world. About 94% of all birds have plastic in their stomachs, which is also found in the stomachs of many endangered species. At least 267 different species of animals have suffered as a result of ingestion of or entanglement with plastic. In fact, these results caused Australia to ban bags locally in 2003, in an effort to protect the migrating whales in Tasmania.
And i support the ban 100%
