I have a site www.poultrypages.com

It currently recieves 10,000 uniques and 30,000 pageviews - 75% SE traffic.

I've added a forum which is live but is not linked from the main page (www.poultrypages.com/forum)

What is the best way to get this forum up, running and active.

I could either:

Make it live from the homepage from day one.

Get some paid posters, and people off FP with FP cash posting, getting it up to around 100 members, then get it live so there is some activity.

Thanks

Grant

Well first i say i would get it active, i doubt 100 members are needed but as long as the forum is active then people will give it a second look.
I would say get a fair amount of posts then link it from the homepage, if people look at your site then they will look at the forum too.

But if i'm getting the same 10k of people, they will click once see its empty and leave...thats my thinking.

So should i take 50 members, 50 threads and 500 posts until i activate it on the homepage?

That's what i'm saying, get a fair amount of posts, 500 i suppose is good, as long as you have new posts everyday in all catagories people will see its active.
When it's up and running more i'll sign up and make posts regularly to help you keep it active too.

Please use the edit feature instead of double posting, gdwebs.
