Your Forum Review

First Impressions & Appearance

I don't get the wow effect I expect when viewing your forum, the style is plain and just looks like any other slim forum style. There is nothing that stands out about it. The menu at the top is floating off to one site which makes the page feel unorganised and rushed. This effect is increased by the logo and advertising floating with no apparent planning involved. Having a clean layout that the eye can follow is very important, as it can determine whether the viewer closes the page or continues reading.

You use a tabbed system for your forum, which I find really messy and difficult to navigate. Do you really need the tabs? You don't have that many sections with a large amount of categories. For organising huge forums tabs are a great thing, but for small forums it just looks stupid. Having the staff forums tab visible to guests doesn't give a professional look either.

The ads you have on your site are well placed and out of the way, as is the shoutbox. I personally don't like shoutboxes as they tend to draw activity away from the forum, but if you really want one then yours is in a good place.

I find your logo very boring and hard to read. It doesn't tell me what your forum is about and as you have a name which is not informative either then this makes things hard for the new visitor. A new logo that describes and shows your forum is highly recommended.

The colour scheme you have chosen to use is pretty dull, it doesn't jump out at you in any way and the green is quite overpowering due to the grey of the rest of the forum.

Site Layout

As I have already mentioned, the tab system doesn't really work for me. The Circle of Life section I don't find any problems with, it contains the needed information about the forum, but does competitions really need its own tab? Do you host enough competitions for this to be needed?

I can't quite work out what your forum is all about, but you do seem to have a large focus on a bit of everything. The Fun Forums section gives me the impression of off-topic area or forum games, which, when looking at the categories it doesn't seem to be. I would suggest changing the title of this section. The categories in this area seem very random, but they have a good amount of posts in each. The forum games category I would suggest putting in the off-topic section.

The Off Topic section seems to be the busiest part of your forum, containing the most amount of categories. To me this seems odd, as an off-topic area should just be an added extra in a forum. Yours seems to be the center of attention. You and your staff need to work on directing your members posts to other parts of the forum. Cut back the amount of categories and move them to other areas if possible.

The Webmaster forums contain a good amount of posts and seem to cover the very basics concerning webmaster. If your forum is focusing on webmaster forum discussion then a lot more work needs to be put into this section, it looks half dead.

Statistics and Activity

Our members have made a total of 26,020 posts in 4,440 threads.
We currently have 959 members registered.

This is hard to judge as you don't know the opening date of your forum. One thing I can say is the ppm is very good, you have a nice stable base which is a good starting point for continued work on your forum. One thing that concerns me is that you aren't receiving many posts per day anymore. A forum with a large post count needs a lot of tender loving care in order not to die. A lot more work needs to be put into the activity of your forum.

Staff Moderation

You have 3 moderators and 1 administrator. As an admin you seem to be doing well, you have a good post count and I can see you are involved in the community. Your activity seems to have dived recently which is causing the forum to become a bit inactive. You need to work on getting your moderators more active and willing. Admins cannot be online all the time and it is important to have staff that keep the forum just as active when the admin is not there. This is something your moderators do not seem to be able to do.

Eaun only has 250 posts, as a moderator on a forum with over 25000 posts I would expect a lot more, the same goes for Nova with only 400. You need to give these 2 moderators a real talking to, they need to up there game and get posting. Haze is doing a little better, but with only 700 posts that too disappoints me. Don't let lazy staff bring your forum down.

Spelling/Grammar & Professionalism

I would suggest getting your forum descriptions proof read as there are many small grammatical errors such as missing punctuation. Other than that your spelling is at a good standard.

Final Remarks

A forum that has seen better days, work is needed for it not to die.

Thanks for the review. I didn't see this.

I'm having trouble finding moderators willing to commit to the forum but I keep trying. Hopefully I find someone soon.

The forum descriptions are cut and paste for the most part so it is temporary. I'll be working on new ones soon.

Competitions do not have their own tab nor would I ever do that. They do however have their own forum and yes, there were a lot of compeitions that it needed its own section.

The Circle of Life is best viewed in FireFox with a 1152x864 resolution.
