The Dave Clark Five

The only band that was able to dislodge a song of the Beatles in the UK singles chart was Dave Clark Five. Their song Glad All Over became number 1, bumping I Wanna Hold Your Hand of The Beatles. And although they did not prosper much, that record of sorts was a great feat during that era when the so called Fab Four was the toast of the world. Dave Clark is the leader of the group with Lenny Davidson handling the lead guitar and organist Mike Smith plus Rick Huxley and Dennis Payton.

The music was sort of corny - but in a good way. It was simply the band's sound, much like it was also with Herman's Hermits.
