Is it just me or has all my old haunts disappearing?

As I sit at my computer and read about some ideas on getting back active members on TAZ, I start to think: "I'm having a post bomb coming up soon! I need new topics and new content for the members to build off of!!"

So I start looking for Posting Packages at all my favorite resource forums..

I first stop by here of course, and I guess they are being smothered with the requests.
I then start touring my old haunts: Hireem, Infiniteresults, Mokata (laughs.. ), and more.. they have all closed up shop for inactivity or other issues.

I'm just wondering, is free forum promotion and resources still out there and I'm missing them? Or is this just a thing of the past?

-- Tip for all new forum admin, it seems to me that there is a need for a good forum promotion site. Forumpromotion.net is amazing! But it seems they are covered up. This could be a way to create an easy active forum.. If you are willing to put in alot of time.

Anyway, does anyone know of an alternative promotion forum when Forumpromotion's areas are offline?

Try looking at post exchanges here. There are quite a few good offers and things like that. Otherwise I would suggest Forum Advertiser, but they discontinued their packages service a while back... otherwise, I don't exactly know what to tell you anymore. If this question were asked two years ago, then a whole array of answers would have been given out, but now... it's hard to say for sure...

I completely agree with you here. It doesn't seem like there are many active promotion forums out there.

This only shows me you're looking for a free ride.

Like Ashley said, try doing a little work, yourself ... and do some post exchanges ... they're GURANTEED!!!

Couldn't agree more actually, seems like there are only 2 "big" ones left in the game ~neutral~

I'm starting one though, with the help of (GWN). So far we have 9 (possibly 10) services that FP doesn't offer, and we're constantly looking into new ways to re-create old ideas and give them a new meaning. We are also changing with the world around us, using Social Media will be one way that we will stay in touch with our members and keep them updated all the time, in this fast paced lifestyle.

Keep your eyes open for it, we'll be sure to make it clear when it goes live, no worries about that ~cool~

Post Exchanges would be good..

But I will have to tell you, I'm not in it for a free ride. I have in the past did the, what I call, "seeding" to get ready for these types of contests. It just looks horrible sadly... Suddenly the admin goes on a topic starting spree.. crazy.

I do start alot of topics though.. And because of a full-time job and seo work, and posting on the forum, I'm usually up until 2am and I gotta be at work at 7:45am.. So I really don't have time for too many post exchanges.. And the members I get with only 5 or 10 posts kinda irk me..

But Post Exchanges I guess will be what I go with. I will look into other links on this topic so far to see what comes up.

Alot of ad forums have disappeared... especially the big ones. There are still alot of ad forums around but there are not many big ones... Most around open and close within a month if that. I don't think demand is falling, i just think people who start these forums quite often lack the motivation, the arrive and the dedication to get the forum active and keep the services going.

On ad forums you need alot of staff which is hard to get and when FP started off i did spend hell of alot of time doing reviews and packages because we had no staff or not many staff. Many admins give up at this point. It takes alot of work to run an advertising forum. Alot more then people think. Especially very large ones like this forum. I can spend forever doing little things here and there. I always have a list of things that need doing and i think that is what causes alot of the big forums to close and why alot of small ones fail early on.

If someone started an ad forum with the aim to do anything possible and spending hours a day working on it then it can easily be successful but it does take hours of work to get started especially. Sometimes for me it does get to much especially when it comes to big updates. The last big update at FP took me weeks to prepare for and hours on the night to actually implement. phpBB updates and host transfers are just as bad but you need to carry on and put your head down and do what is required.

ForuMansion offers 12 services. You can also get 3-post FREE packages at Quick Ads. Those are basically my forums that you can promote on.

Well it seems a lot of big ones are gone like you've said. I think the big 2 ones (FP and FA) are enough anyhow, would be nice with more though. No advertising boards at really at the size of a "large" forum though (something like WHT or BHW or DP), just mid sized forums.

To a certain extent, I agree.

A few prominent forum owners and myself are in the process of developing a huge new 'forum about forums' project. We have developed an affiliation with ForumPromotion, so keep your eyes and ears open!

Regards,
Zane

As you might know, ForuMansion is growing efficiently. There's already about 200 registered members in less than 55 days. It's going to get up to FA and FP's league one day. 😀

Proud to say I'm in on that ~wink~

@Rok
Very true, every forum started somewhere, and FP started on a free host.

Yes. The resident ghost and I are cooking up an immortal scheme to take over the world.
