Site Name: The Game Developer Ensemble - Forums
Site URL: http://thegde.proboards.com
Description:
The GDE is a collaborative project I've recently started, where the goal is to hopefully establish a fresh/new approach to video game development where people can come together as a network or community and collaborate on each other's video game projects and not have to worry about spending money for services and other such things.
My Name on the Board: A Deft Roach (same as here)
Additional Info:
Right now, The GDE concept is in its formative stages. So I decided to start a forum to open up the discussion to anyone who wants to help shape the future of the project.

For now, guests can currently make posts in "TheGDE Discussion" section, so you don't even have to register to contribute. Just head on over to the forums by clicking the big link at the top of this post. You can also visit other project links when you get there -- located at the top and bottom on all pages -- so that you can gain a better understanding of what the project is all about.

You really need a better skin and a logo. Those really define a forum. =)

Good luck!

Yeah, I've thought about it. The skin is the default proboards skin with a few color modifications. But anyway, I'll look into a new skin, as long as I can find one that isn't too distracting or dark. As for creating one, I have no experience doing that from scratch, so I dunno about that.

The logo I'm gonna be working on soon though.

Alright, I got a new skin (nothing too fancy), but there's a few kinks that might need working out.

As for the logo, I think I might have someone lined up to help me out on that.

It looks okay mate, but there are many divisions of Game Developing.

Game Engines (Gamebryo!!), 3D Modelers (amen for Blender), Texture Artists, Programming Languages like C++ , C , C# , Python and Java, Writers, etc

There aren't many sections to discuss that type of stuff.

There's been some confusion as of late about what exactly The GDE represents. I urge everyone visiting the forums to also visit the other project links to find out more about what's going on. But let me summarize here as well:

The GDE's focus right now (phase 1) is to discuss and ultimately come up with a new or fresh way that video games are developed. I have the initial ideas and concepts outlined in a simple presentation and documented in a wiki, so that's the starting point for discussion. Basically, I see The GDE becoming a project management website for video game projects. But there's more to it than that boring statement. That's where the forums come in handy. There you can discuss current and future topics and help shape the concept, to evolve it into something that could actually be implemented as a useful tool/website for game developers.

Michael: The more members I get, the more boards I'll probably end up adding. A (sub)forum for game development would probably be one of them.
