I wouldn't say classic since it was made and released in 1990. Sean Connery been in allot of movies and he looks older in this to very later date back in the 1970s
I think I had seen that movie about a submarine that was commanded by a defector from USSR. Sean Connery is the defecting captain who ordered his submarine to the direction of the US. Yeah, full of suspense because an encounter with a US vessel may occur.
Of course, the idea of a bad guy in the movie is based on American ideas. In reality, the USSR had every right to hate that captain - because he was a traitor, and the sabotage on board was really patriotic.
But anyway, the Captian was Lithuanian - and that nation was colonized by Russia, so some could argue his rebellion as just.
