I recently read a thread on another admin forum site regarding the usage of forums being "forums are for forum people" or something such.
So I am curious of your thoughts on this.
Personally I feel that I need to have my forum design look more like a website than a forum.
No, I dont mean make it like WP or something.
But what I am looking at on my forum home, thread lists, whats new, etc., is there is a lot of litter that likely will not be noticed by a casual subject visitor. Or maybe it will be noticed as clutter irrelevant to the visitor looking at a subject.
So, as a test, I have removed all post counts and thread counts as well as date and poster (excluding their avatar) in order to make a cleaner less littered home page that emulates sites that are not a forum but may take comments or posts. (click on my siggy to see)
I am considering doing the same on all threadlists, and injecting post counts and view counts onto the top of the thread pages. (topics and post counts are already relocated to show on the top of each node when viewing it.
Just a different way of looking at my forum and hopefully making it more pleasing to the guests as well as a cleaner view.
Maybe you may have a different opinion, or thoughts? Maybe you might like it?
